The Broncos/Colts game had zero competition, no? The WS game drew 16 million going against the NFL Sunday night, that's a bit more then 25%. Good math Glen. But please site NFL playoff numbers which have zero competition.
Kind of funny how the blind NFL homers here believe the NFL beat the WS, even though the numbers are out and show a clearly one sided victory for baseball.
World Series game 1 did a 9.4 with no competition so why don't we just make that comparison?
How about you find me the last time 20 million people all tuned in to the same baseball game?
BTW this past Super Bowl... 48.1 million. The World Series might hit that number in total viewers.... If it goes seven games.

ITT MLB 's puff out their chests about the World Series beating out a regular season NFL game that is only available in 62% of US homes with a TV.

Whole conversation stemmed from noted tard big bucs bragging about having predicted that the WS would do worse ratings wise then NFL, and then "mlb homers" pointing out that MLB beat the NFL all three nights. It is cut and dry.Comment

I'm checking out of this thread, because it's a pointless argument. Comparing tv ratings for a sport with a 162 game schedule and 7 game series for a championship, to one with a 16 game schedule and a one and done championship is silly. MLB has been killing with the ratings here, you can google for some nonbiased opinions on it, they all agree. The derps on this site who claim baseball is dying continue to look like goofs.Comment

There's only one Sunday night game that is relevant to this conversation.

... Leaves thread because ratings can't be used as reasonable grounds to draw a comparison.
And I don't need an "nonbiased" (not a word) opinion to tell me anything.
The raw viewership and ad buy numbers do that for me just fine.

No doubt St. Louis is an absolute baseball city, hell it's possible the Blues are more popular than the Rams, but America's national pastime is football, not baseball. You don't have every network spending 24 hours on baseball, they're all talking about football. Most sports fans know who the left guard is for Tennessee, Most sports fans have no clue who the Cincinnati Reds' centre fielder is. Most know who New Orleans' defensive co-ordinator is, Most couldn't name half of MLB's managers.
Hell, most sports fans are legitimately concerned about the effect of concussions on NFL players, but are only pissed at MLB players for cheating because they simply won't admit it.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000
