Aaron Rodgers might be done for season

Since Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week 8, the Packers have been in a freefall, losing four games since and tying one to fall to a record of 5-6-1 and putting them on the cusp of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

Though Rodgers practiced for the first time last week, he didn't play in the team's Thanksgiving loss to the Lions, and according to NFL.com, the team is worried Rodgers won't be ready to play in Week 14 -- which apparently was his target return date all along.

And if Rodgers can't play and it appears as though Green Bay is out of the playoff race, NFL.com reports it's possible the Packers will sit down Rodgers for the rest of the season so he can't do any further damage to his collarbone.

And if that's the case, Green Bay would be lucky to win another game this season.

Though Scott Tolzien showed some promise in his first start vs. the Giants in Week 10, he was pulled from his start in Week 12 in favor of the newly-acquired Matt Flynn, who showed some spark for Green Bay in its eventual tie vs. the Vikings.

But in their 40-10 loss to the Lions on Thursday, Flynn went 10 of 20 for 139 yards and an interception and generally looked awful. Just like his entire team since Rodgers went down with his injury.

The Packers should just sit Rodgers, work on the development of Flynn and Tolzien and look forward to a nice pick in the draft.

I'll believe it when that motherfucker's on IR.

As it stands, I fully expect him to return when we play them in a couple weeks, and then he will proceed to drop 600yds and 7 TDs on us.

DOESNT matter if he was healthy. The Pack doesn't have enough tools this year anyway even with him if he wasn't injured

Agreed. This season is lost. Why risk Rodgers? Get him healthy for next year.

Guarantee that he would be better off of the couch than Tolzien or Flynn

My fantasy season is on the fucking line! Get his ass back on the field next week! I backed into the playoffs after a dominating start. I NEED him back playing on December 8th.

You don't even think about sitting Rodgers until GB is mathematically eliminated. Horrible message sent to the players if the organization just up and quits while they still are in it no-matter how improbable. You already have a team that looks like it quit. The organization doing the same just sends a message that quitting is OK.

You play Rodgers as long as the team has any chance at all of making it to the playoffs.

Agreed. You don't mail in the season, regardless of Rodgers or not. You try and win what you can, especially as the Packers are still in the hunt for the playoffs.

I get the gist of what you guys are saying but let's be pragmatic here...Green Bay is as good as eliminated from the playoffs today. They have to win the North to get in and Detroit has established a hold on the division. The tie to the Vikings was just as detrimental as a loss since it wasn't a win and won't help in the wildcard standings. The Panthers at 9-3 and the 49ers at 8-4 are locks for playoff wildcard berths unless the wheels come off.

McCarthy just said at his press conference that Rodgers will be back as soon as he is ready-
