yeah, he's part of the reason they were succeeding the last couple years in the first place.

He was on the hot seat already for not getting further in the playoffs. This was a team that only needed a game manager in Schaub in previous seasons, but they've fallen short. They have one of the premier defensive players in Watt, great skill with Foster and Johnson, and a damn good line.

Injuries happened this year, Schaub imploded, but Kubiak was already facing this. The terrible part is that there wasn't much he could do this season to avoid it.

How do you fire a guy who had a mini stroke a month ago? Seems kind of heartless. Let him at least finish the season. Why try to win out at this point under different leadership?

That mini stroke gave him more time. Also he's still getting paid next years salary, so he'll be fine during the Holidays. Seems they want to beat out the other teams, who will be making coaching changes and talk to those not under contract. They want someone with NFL Coaching experience (at least to what they said in conference). Also Sumlin just signed a 6yr extension with Aggies, so I don't think he will leave for the next 3 years. Both of the radio stations here say it was not the losing (they've been doing that) but the fact he put Schaub back in the game (again), when winning isn't going to change the failure this season. It will hinder seeing what Keenum can do and whether they want to draft a QB with #1 overall pick (no questions asked) or trade down and get one either mid 1st or 3rd/4th round. Also Kubs looks like he knew he was going to get fired (no surprise), so he was going down with his guy....doing what was "best" for him and not for the team.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Washington with Shanahan, and how seriously the Texans will pursue him if they part ways. Kubiak's offense came from Shanahan's, and would require next to no changes for how the offensive line plays, and the same goes for both Foster and Johnson.

He gets every dime of his contract ... firing him isn't the same as firing some dude at Wal-Mart. And as Texans' owner pointed out, as long as Kubiak was coach, they'd never get a full evaluation of Case Keenum. Clearly Kubiak was a Schaub guy. Texans had to move on and clearly Kubiak didn't lose a dime. All that said, Keenum is not Houston's QB next year, so this evaluation is clearly just sucking up to Houston fans and not actually serious.
