    Jets to retain Rex Ryan

That didn't take long. Shortly after the Jets defeated the Dolphins on Sunday, team owner Woody Johnson announced that coach Rex Ryan will be retained for the 2014 season.
After a tumultous 2012 in which the Jets finished 6-10 and both the general manager and offensive coordinator were fired, Ryan had arguably his best season as a head coach, leading the team to eight wins despite starting a rookie quarterback and without any big-play offensive threats.

Johnson's announcement confirms what CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported earlier Sunday.

Meanwhile, La Canfora also reported that the Jets are expected to part ways with former first-round pick quarterback Mark Sanchez (who's due a $2 million roster bonus in March and a $9 million salary in 2014) as well as wide receiver Santonio Holmes (due a $1 million roster bonus, $8.25 million salary).

The team saved Rex's job by getting to 8-8, crushing Miami's playoffs hopes along the way.
