so....will he moving up to a better program like a kid in a Candy store? Or will he just turn Penn State into another Vanderbilt where he recruits a bunch of smart hard working kids who cant beat Michigan or Ohio State and barely compete with Illinois every year ?

James Franklin is an amazing recruiter who already has DEEP ties in the DMV area from his days at College Park.

I think this is the best choice Penn State could've made. Franklin is a great recruiter and a good coach.

he damn well better be a better recruiter than he was for Vandy. What he did was great for Vandy but will be sub par for Penn state.

I know he's good but will he be the next step better than he was ? 3 years at Vandy doesn't prove a great deal but hope and 9-4 records wont win the conference

You do understand the massive disadvantages he had at Vandy, right?

9 wins at Vandy is very, very hard to do.

He didn't have a losing record (not incl. bowls). He'll do fine in recruiting if PSU is as good as fans say they are. He had 2 recruiting classes and was headed up.

Most places I've seen is that he is thinking of accepting the job...."likely" to take job. I haven't seen one where it said he took the job. I'm guessing it's a matter of time.

He has also signed top 25 classes the last few years. He's a great coach. I hope Vandy can find someone decent to take over, it's kind of fun seeing them relevant.
