YOUR OPINION: New coach hires during the NFL playoffs

Should the NFL introduce a rule where no coaches can be interviewed or hired until after the Super Bowl? Maybe set a start point for such hires/interviews.

No different than having a free agent signing deadline.

It would allow coaches like Ken Whisenhunt to focus on his job as San Diego's offensive co-ordinator without worrying that he's losing out on other jobs, while leveling the field for all teams seeking a new coach.

    Just curious how you feel.

Always felt this way. But Too much scouting and Post Bowl evaluation takes place that new coaches would miss out on. But I wouldn't be against it. It kinda makes some coaches victims if there success as the deeper they go into playoffs the more potential gigs get taken.
Best reason to have a license.

If your team is in the playoffs, you should not be able to interview until you are out. It won't stop any deals being made behind the scenes or anything like that, but it would at least help with the perception of it all. You shouldn't restrict non-playoff teams from interviewing coaches from non-playoff teams, coaches not currently in the league, or teams who have been ousted.

thats not fair. why should coaches who are good enough to make the post season be punished? they have a right to be interviewed.

personally i dont think anyone should be able to be hired until after the season. just like free agency. i think they should be allowed to interview, but nobody should be allowed to be hired

I do agree with that. Teams may already have their choice, but you can't tell me that Greg Roman or Vic Fangio are both with SF next year if they never made the NFC Championship game in each of the last three years.

With the NFL wanting MOAR FOOTBALL, I figure you could push back the senior bowl and other showcase games, push back FA as well as the draft, and have all of these guys on even footing to get interviews and hired. Right now, the biggest argument against making teams wait is that there won't be any coaching staff in place for those showcase games.
