Gase withdraws from Cleveland coaching search

Adam Gase has told Cleveland he isn't interested....feel bad for Manziel if he ends up there.

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase has withdrawn his name from the Cleveland Browns' coaching search, Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. Who will coach the Browns in 2014?

i hope this drags out. this ownership is worse than the last. all the hope we had in chud, norv and horton and they are all gone after 1 lousy season. what a terrible decision to fire this staff. absolutely ludicrous

Unbelievable how much a franchise can reverse a positive change in one year. Just a handful of teams could pull this off, and the Browns are one of them.

It's got to be someone irrelevant that comes out with this job, which is said. Going into last off-season, this was a hot job with new ownership and with Banner heading up football operations.

Chud is torpedoing these guys behind the scenes. They're going to wind up with a position coach.

Of course he is. They're all wondering what the hell went on this past year, and they're asking him. I'd expect him to do nothing less.

Seahawks DC Dan Quinn is also a candidate, but can't return for a second interview until Seattle's Super Bowl run is through. Pettine reeks of a desperation candidate, but he's not a poor one. A Rex Ryan disciple, Pettine's swarming, aggressive Bills defense was one of the most underrated in the league this season.
Jim Tressel isn't a real candidate.

tressel or someone epic like gruden or cowher is the only way they can save face at this point.

it was reported a few weeks ago about chud being honest with candidates who asked him about the situation.

word on radio was that the Browns were no longer interested in Gase because he isnt interested in interviewing until after the season and the browns dont want to wait for him. So the report was that Gase pulled out because he knew he wasnt a candidate anymore and his agent wanted him to be able to come out looking godly for next year. The thinking being that Gase was this highly touted coach who chose not to take a HC job...setting things up for his job after 2014 season.

this is reported by a national reporter (forget his name) on CBS sports radio in Cleveland, who doesnt pull their punches when it come to the browns
