So what's going on Pittsburgh?

The draft is coming up in a few weeks and I want to know what the plan is to restore our o-line???

We haven't picked up any free-agents, I'd love it if we could draft a young gifted tackle or guard first day but I don't know the tallent pool in this years draft well enough.

So I ask you VSN, what's it lookin like out there for us?

Just resigned Harrison, that's good news. 51.1 over the next 6. Every mock I have seen has us taking a O lineman with our first pick. Eben Britton, William Beatty, Alex Mack. Free agency is never that exciting for us as we tend to wait it out and pick up a couple role players here and there. Let the Redskins keep winning this part of the NFL, we'll just keep picking up the trophies.

I think this season looks promising. Most everybody is returning and Mendenhall will be ready to give our running game a boost. Our D is almost completely intact and will continue to be one of the best in the league. I think we are looking at another 12 win season and good push in the playoffs.

I just saw that Leftwich signed with the Bucs that kind of sucks

Yeah that's scary. Dennis Dixon the 5th round project is the only QB we have under contract. Charlie Batch is stll available to sign though and he's as big a Steeler fan as we are, I honestly think he'll re-sign with us this year. I HOPE!

Ok we have to get this thread rollin. The Lions and Seahawks have bigger threads.

I wish we had kept St. Pierre, he would be nice insurance right now. I do think Batch will resign though which will hopefully be enough for this season. I can't wait to see how Mendenhall and Sweed do this year. If Sweed gets some confidence and sheds himself of the dropsies Big Ben will be looking at a huge year. Can't wait for the draft/Madden 10/NFL season to get rolling.

Sweed and Mendenhall I hope show great improvement in their production for this team next season. But the guy I really expect to see make an impact next year is Lawrence Timmons at ILB. Foote is good but I feel Timmons is our future, and I hope he can compete for that starting spot.

Yeah I saw we signed him, and we dumped some roster fat with Russell. Both good moves. I hear you about the linebackers, though I wouldn't consider Timmons to be a pass rush threat. He's ok and he's got speed so sure he'll get some sacks, but I really want him to develop into the our next big time ILB. Farrior is getting older, and Foote is solid but Timmons up side is so much greater.

Ziggy Wood. Was hoping they would go O-line but I guess they figured there would be someone they liked there in round 2.

Yeah I'm not crazy about the pick either, but we are getting old on our D-Line, and this guy is 6-4 295, I've seen him listed as high as 304 though. I'm not that mad at the pick because both C/G's Alex Mack and Eric Wood were taken earlier. I always want so bad to trade up, but I know we A) don't have to, and B) are better off drafting guys we can sign for less money and will fill roster spots and one day this guy Ziggy will fill in with some good playing time.

I like the trade for two 3rd round picks very much. We'll get a lot of quallity in the 3rd round.

Guess they weren't that pressed about the O-line. The 2 CB picks look good especially since Troy will probably break his ankle in pre-season thanks to Madden.

We need some more corners though. I can honestly say it's our weakest area after o-line. So that's good we got some guys. Maybe Tomlin feels Big Ben can do it all still with the worst damn line in the league. :crutch:
