Mike Pettine New Head Coach for the Browns

being reported by Will Berge from Bleacher Report on radio....from 2 sources at the highest level that Mike Pettine is the coach. What is funny about this is that even bleacher report does not have this on their site.

will burge is a local radio guy who has been working for BR for about a year now. browns beat reporter is on the radio right now saying this is not true and the browns are denying the report.

CBS News offers breaking news coverage of today’s top headlines. Stay informed on the biggest new stories with our balanced, trustworthy reporting.

You can see why the Browns fired Chud now.. when a guy like Mike Pettine is out there waiting to be hired, you just gotta do it.

Being the 3rd coach for the Browns since 2012 how do you guys think Mike will do for Cleveland in the coming years?

Had the lead in 8 of 9 last games in the fourth quarter and lost all 8. That's poor coaching plain and simple (that's the final 9 games of the year.)

I give Pettine 13 games until he is fired.

Leadership of the team needs to get fixed, that much is known. They need to give Pettine time to get his system down and get the right players in for that system.

What also sucks for him is he's now behind on hiring assistants. Most have already been picked through, or were promoted to coordinator spots when the guy above them moved to another team.

Pettine took a no-win job in my mind. Even if the Browns FO decides to do this right, I think the problems go further than the term of one coach to fix.

The Browns need a QB. If they hit on their first round draft pick at QB...they'll be alright. Pettine will have the D on point.

If they don't get a QB...it won't matter and they'll still suck anyway.

QB makes a lot of really dumb people look smart by proxy of their success.

a 5 year deal. i liked some of the things he said in the presser today. just was very honest and direct about things. coaches here have always given the tow the like cliche answers. Mike didnt do that.

when asked about the scheme he will run he said he wasnt sure. that he will evaluate the talent and develop a scheme around the players. sounds like common sense, but now a days coaches want to make players fit the scheme instead of make the scheme fit the players.

as a fan, what can you do? you gotta have hope i suppose and try to believe in the guy. i cant believe this leadership group is actually worse than Holmgren and company. Its hard to think they have a clue as to what they are doing.

Of course none of the 3 stooges answered questions at the presser today

It sounds like he doesn't intend to be pushed around. Lets just hope that doesn't happen. If he was honest and direct, that's what you want.

I've thought more than once about turning in my Redskins fan card over this past years debacle, and transitioning to a Packer fan (I do have one stock purchase.) I want to say I am giving them Gruden's tenure until I decide to jump ship, but even then, I don't think I could truly separate myself from the Redskins as a fan. I'm pretty much stuck.

If he's a hit...the Browns will be fine. If he's a bust...well...see you in another 3 seasons when we have this discussion again.

Pettine is interviewing Kyle Shanahan for the OC position.

Ignore all the stuff that came out of DC about Kyle Shanahan. He was actually in an extremely awkward position by his father's actions and decisions late in the year, and publicly supported RGIII not being benched. If Pettine hires Shanahan, he can leave him alone to install a similar offense to what he ran in DC with RGIII and had success with it.

Even with some struggles this year at times- and I would not have put it past Kyle's father to have stepped in and called plays in certain situations like he did with Jim Haslett- the offense ranked 9th in the NFL in total yards, and sixth in 2012. Also in 2012 they were fourth in points scored, but 23rd this year.

I'm actually a Kyle Shanahan supporter, and wasn't until very recently. He's done the best he could do in a bad situation, and I hope he gets a chance to re-establish himself as a coach and eventually get his own shot at a head coaching gig.
