Was this the worst performance ever in a superbowl?
I don't listen to Bruno Mars but I found the Super Bowl Halftime show to be much better than most halftime shows. At worst, it was non-offensive. At best, I can buy his fans saying this was a damn good halftime show.
I hate the fact that we have pop music for events like this, but I understand why. Even the RHCP wouldn't be able to draw interest, and they are about as close to mainstream as you can get without being called "pop."
I'm just resigned to hating all of the half-time shows from here on out. The only thing I think they need to do is if you have a guest like RHCP, you let them do their own thing and not do a collaboration. Having Mars participating in their portion took away from it.

Used the phrase inoffensive during it. My gf was loving it, me and my buddy were like, eh it's not bad. Some old school instrumentation, some energy... nothing too grating.
Only issue is I didn't get why RHCP only got 1 song, seemed kinda weird.

i only know the yeah yeah part of that one song. but i thought his performance was fantastic. throw in give it away and i enjoyed the halftime more so then i can ever remember. they should have ended after the chilli peppers. that would have been a mic drop right there
I'm not really a Bruno Mars' fan, but I thought it was a good show. Very professional. The guy clearly has talent. The NFL can't win. They bring out Springsteen and people say they only bring out old acts. They bring out Britney or Janet for sex appeal, get slammed. So they try something new and will still get slammed. You really can't win.

Sure.
But that Black Eyed Peas halftime show was straight trash.

Without looking it up, didn't Springsteen follow the Stones and the Who? If so, completely understandable that they would get slammed for older acts. Then again, that was on the heels of the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction so I understand going low risk.
Maybe they go for a collab type of show where three or four different acts are featured?
