Don't put it on one person to save the world or play like he is what's wrong with society. The 2 examples I gave above are far easier and realistic options.

Or our overpaid athletes can donate their bonuses and other wages to local food banks. I know that most athletes do not play in the city/town that they hail from, which is why I cannot root for them, but the least they could do is give back. Instead they're out purchasing $25,000 beats headphones.

Well, sports players are traded and sold to the highest bidder, which creates a mixture on each team of players from all around the country, if not the globe. So although Eagles fans still cheer, “Go Philly”, in any given season it’s likely that most of the team is not from Philadelphia (or even Pennsylvania). Can they really be your hometown team? I don't think so!

Yup let's put it on atheletes to solve our problems in 'Merica...by no means should we request those responsible take part of that burden. Do you get a bonus' at work? Do you donate it to charity? Hmmm.... I'm sure someone out there thinks each and every one of us is overpaid tbh.

They didn't purchase them and why are you so worried about pro athletes? Why not focus on the 1% that corrupts our government and stacks the rules against everyone else. The Walton family is worth $100 Billion and are the richest family in America and they are also the largest recipients of corporate welfare in the US.

The players live in those cities and contribute to those communities. Russell Wilson might not be from Seattle, but I bet all Seattleites now consider him one of their own and I bet he wouldn't disagree with him. Players become part of that city's history even if they weren't born there. I can live in a place, love the people/culture/etc there, and consider it one of my homes. The term 'home' doesn't exist as a static location. It's a feeling of comfort, love, familiarity yadda yadda yadda. So yes, they are still a hometown team whether or not zero players on that team are from that town.

I disagree, if 95 percent of the team is from elsewhere that’s not a hometown team anymore, dude.
