    Panthers LT Jordan Gross retires

Huge loss for a Panthers team that was really starting to go places. They really need to address OT in the draft or FA now as they really have no starting tackles on the roster.

Sad to see him go. Feels like he's been a key member of this team for forever. Hard to believe he was the pick after Byron Leftwich.

      Wharton may retire too..

It's really bad for the Panthers because they are in a precarious cap situation, and the Gross retirement will still leave $5.3M of his $5.6M salary aggainst the cap.

Good luck finding a new LT for $300k.

According to the article, he had restructured his deal prior to the season to void his 2014 salary.

That's the worst position to replace for a contender too. Since Gross voided his salary, Eugene Monroe might be their best bet. For their sake, they have to hope the Ravens can't franchise him. Monroe is their best hope for little drop-off. Trotting out a rookie would mean lots of growing pains, something you can't have from the blindside protector for a competitor.

Fine career. Retired too soon, but not soon enough for his own personal health, so that should be enough. You know you're getting older when Jordan Gross retires and you realize he isn't a 1st round pick from a few years ago.

Every team in need for a LT is going to be looking at Monroe. He is good, but going to be crazy overpaid.

Quality LT's hardly ever make it to the FA market, so that's a given. Even Michael Oher stands a chance to get overpaid, and he's better on the right side.
