In a league that demands good safety play...why the Bills would let one of the league's best safeties go is baffling. 2nd lowest passer rating when thrown on in football last year at his position. No one through on this guy last year when he played and succeeded...no one.

The franchise tag goes up incrementally, and they already had issues with putting the tag on him last year. Byrd also wasn't traded at the deadline, and I think he didn't want to be in Buffalo last year. I know there was something else besides the franchise tag at play, but the tag was a big one.

He also wants to be the highest paid safety in the league. I don't think Buffalo wanted to spend the money. I agree with you on needing good safety play, and they have the cap room at almost $26 million available, they are just too cheap to spend it.

He will follow Pettine to Cleveland. Its a done deal after the Browns did not Franchise T.J. Ward.... love T.J. but at least they have a plan.

i like TJ, but never felt he was the dominating player we needed back there. but its been pretty well known that the bills would not tag Byrd and that the browns want to sign him.

I was more surprised they didnt resign Alex Mack. they gave him the transistion tag which allows them to match any offer

When healthy Bills have a lot of good players on D, shame they couldn't keep their best one.
