Seems like a good plan if you dont think any of the current QBs in the draft are the future. OBrien likes Mallet and you bolster that D line. Schaub/Mallet and let them battle wouldn't be half bad.

None of these QBs are worthy of a top pick, so if they think Mallet is the better option (and BOB is certainly familiar with him), then more power to them... Clowney is a can't miss 'spect, and pairing him with Watt is just fucking nuts, I feel bad for the other AFC south QBs...

They should trade a third for Cousins

I guess they wouldn't give Cassel something comparable to his 2yr/10M deal with the Vikings. Now they would have to give up draft picks to get a guy BOB has worked with in the past.

They drafted Mallett in the third round a few years ago, I can't think they have much ground to ask for anything more than a fifth round pick, if that. The price for Mallett will be of no concern.

I definitely smell a smokescreen at least for the Clowney portion. I do think Houston has legit interest in Mallett though.

They are taking clowney or trading down, anything else would be retarded/too jags-like.

I was really hoping they would trade for Mallett. It's an easier exit out of the cellar of the AFC South if the Texans suck.

This actually wouldn't have been a bad move at all. O' Brien has worked with Mallett before, so there would be some sense of familiarity on the offense, and then to put Watt and Clowney on the same D-line...

EDIT: Or Mallett could push Schaub to play better and become a better quarterback.

Best scenario in my mind is draft Clowney 1st, draft Mettenberger in the 2nd, trade 4th for Mallet. Mett sits for a year to rehab his knee and learn the system while Mallett starts due to his familiarity with a BOB offense. If Mallet plays well you flip him for another draft pick.
