Breakout Player of the 2009/10 NFL Season?

Who is the player not a lot of people have heard of but who could make a lot of noise this year/ become a Pro Bowler.

    My choice:

    Andre Caldwell, WR, Cincinnati

I have a good feeling that he will have 60+ plus catches this year

Homer pick, but anyways...Peyton Hillis. This guy is a monster, forget the RBs the Broncos signed in free agency, this guy should start.

Peyton Hillis...the Denver Broncos 2009 starting RB, he'll have over 1000 yards rushing and over 1000 yards receiving.

      There I said it.

I think Matt Schaub is going to have a breakout season this year.

Non Seahawk pick - Vernon Gholston - Jets.. I think Mangini's a moron and Rex Ryan will turn this kid into a star.

Seahawk pick - Brandon Mebane.. kid will have a double digit sack season and make the Pro Bowl.

Scott Starks of the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'm sure he'll start as a Nickelback this year but will prove he is worthy of being a #2.

Mike Walker showed signs of a lot of potential when we played the Steelers and he might be jettisoned into the #2 WR spot. Hopefully with his mix of speed an route running will make him a good WR. He really needs to work on his hands in the offseason.

RB Cedric Benson - I think this season he'll prove why he was such a highly touted RB.

QB Sage Rosenfels - I think he will win the Vikings QB spot and do really well as long as he doesnt try and hurdle over defenders for a 1st down up 13 points with 4 mins elft.

RB Kevin Smith(homer pick) I think the kid is great and will have 1400 yards and 15 TDs

CB Leigh Bodden - New England got a steal with this guy. He is awsome but losing with DEt just absolutley broke this guy, but NE has an nact for signing these guys and turning them into All-Pros just to let them walk once thier ego gets too high.

                          Steve Slaton for the Texans
Matt Schaub could have a pro bowl season if healthy.

I like the Gholston pick as well.

For the Chiefs, who fuckin knows. I hope it's Glenn Dorsey, but I doubt it.

So you think Slaton will have a breakout season after having the 6th highest total last year? Marvelous, are you related to Miss Cleo or something?

Doubtfull at best. IMO he's a longshot to be the starter.

Felix Jones is a good pick, he had some flash last year before he got hurt. Jenkins is an alright pick, but people don't notice CB's in their first breakout season. It took Nnamdi two or three years to finally get noticed.

As far as Mebane goes, health permitting, he should be a pro bowl contender, I'm just not sure 10 sacks is doable. I'd love it if he did though, 'cause the Seahawks will likely win the NFC West if it happens.
Good comparrion with Suggs/Gholston. Even though I think Suggs was more football smart and had better skills with technique, Gholston has the potential to do everything suggs can and I thik Ryan can get him up to speed very quickly.

I feel the same way about Mebane, I am with you I'm not sure about the 10 sacks either. Not often do DT's get 10 sacks in a season and don't see him as being a great pass rusher.

Benson won't happen. He's injury prone 1, he can't carry the load 2, and he's proven when healthy he's average. I mean he's had 5 100+ yard games in 4 years. He's Rashaan Salaam 2.0,

Depending on what the Lions do with the first pick Kevin Smith could have a breakout season or be at risk to have the sophmore slump. If the Lions draft Stafford he's at risk for that sophmore slump. If they go with I think the top tackle one the board is Jason Smith from Baylor, Smith could get over 1,000 yards, but I doubt he'll have the season you expect. He'll be the focal point next season most likely.

                              My choices
If I may, let me go with some steelers, Rashard Mendenhall will make in impact and get noticed next year, not sure if you can call it a breakout but he'll get talked about, and Timmons I hope takes over as the starter next season and people start talking about him as having a breakout season. I also think Holmes will become a top 10 WR next year. He hasn't had that "breakout" season yet. 824, 942, and 821 yds in his first 3 years. I expect him to improve into the 1,100 yard range and eclipse double digget TD's.
