The Patriots are into some shady shit again....

Two former Patriots say the team put false information about them on official injury reports.

Brandon Spikes*and*Aqib Talib*have both said since leaving New England in free agency that when they were on the Patriots last year, the team gave them injury designations that weren’t accurate. Spikes ended last season on injured reserve with a knee injury, and there were reports that Patriots coach Bill Belichick actually put Spikes on IR because Spikes had shown up late to practice. Spikes seemed to confirm that in an interview on WGR in Buffalo.

“I heard they put me on IR and stuff like that.*That was just a false report,” Spikes said, via ESPN.com. “That’s just how things go there. Almost like what happened with Talib and his hip.”

Talib was on injury reports last season with hip injuries, but after signing with the Broncos he said he never had a hip injury.

“The Patriots have their way of reporting stuff, but I haven’t had a hip problem since Tampa,” Talib said. “The injury I had was actually a quad injury. It was reported as a hip injury, but that’s how they do things.”

That’s not how the NFL wants teams to do things. The league office may look into the possibility that the Patriots are playing fast and loose with injury reports.
I don't even know why they would lie about Spikes when it was pretty clear they didn't have any real intention of signing him anyway.

Once Brady is done I don't know what FA would want to sign here.

They've been playing "fast and loose" with injury reports. It's obvious when they have 15 players designated as questionable week in and week out.

Got them 3 out of 5 SB. Maybe more teams should try it.

Wasn't there already reports that they listed their star players as questionable every week anyway? More of the Pats trying to be non-conformists under Belichick, but this actually is something that could land them in trouble. Not much, but they likely face a fine and/or loss of a late round draft pick.

I think they could face bigger problems when it comes to signing guys down the road. If I'm a player or an agent, I'm not really going to be cool with this FO killing my future earnings potential by tagging me with made up injuries. Especially for a CB like Talib, a made up hip injury would be a big deal.

I hadn't thought of it from that perspective, but you bring up an excellent point. However, I do question it, as the two players in question have waited until they were released until saying these things.

Well I don't think I'd have come out against my own team and say something either. Much easier to do so when you're no longer on the team and you won't be facing any repercussions of that decision from coaches/FO.

Belichick has always been a control freak. If it hadnt been for finding Brady he would have been no better than his days Cleveland the rest of his career..at least not that many SBs

i dont know if i agree with that. he is a great coach and yeah, got totally lucky finding brady. and if not for drews injury might not have ever found what brady was. but you gotta give the guy credit for being able to win. having a great QB does not make you a SB champ.

I didnr mean he would suck...just not have the success he did...and yes, it was because of Brady he got over the hump with all his other pieces

If Bill Belichick didn't have Tom Brady he would not have had the same amount of success.

                        Great analysis

Nothing new here, we've known this for quite sometime. Brady's had a right shoulder injury since the first Super Bowl, I don't think that'd stop anyone from signing him if he were a FA

Sour grapes for both these mfers, esp Spikes

Spikes had a legit knee injury for half the season. He was able to play through it but it was clear he wasn't 100%. Some off the field stuff happened and the Patriots just didn't want to deal with him anymore so threw him on IR. As for Talib, how do you know it wasn't a hip injury? It is a he said she said game here.

Because Talib, the player supposedly with the hip injury, said it wasn't?
