    What is a #1 receiver?

What's your definition of a #1 receiver in the NFL? Are there 32 #1's currently in the league?

To me it's a WR who is effective at every level. A true #1 can't just be a deep threat or a YAC guy. He has to do it all. I'd say there's maybe 10 #1 WRs in the NFL at most right now.

There are probably only 10-15 true #1s in the league at any given time.

Jordy Nelson is a #1 WR in the league.

Guy who can run every route, get separation on his own, knows how to beat press coverage and where to sit vs zones, and catches everything.

I'd add Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jefferey and Antonio Brown to this list.

Not sure about Johnson anymore. He's getting older, which isn't a great thing for a guy who has seemed to get hurt his entire career.

I won't put Alshon in that list yet. Consistency also plays a role and he hasn't shown that yet. He certainly has the potential though.

                      I agree with this.

hmm...Cris Carter was pretty mediocre down field...Randy Moss was avg at best underneath for many years....many TEs and slot Wrs get targeted and come up with more catches.

The only true definition of a #1 WR is the ability to line up at Flanker or Split end and be able to beat to consistently beat single coverage and do well in double coverage.
Best reason to have a license.

Victor Cruz would be another #1.
