Terrelle Pryor requests trade from Oakland

The Raiders traded a late-round pick to the Texans last week for Matt Schaub, presumably because they didn't think a capable starting quarterback was currently on the roster.

Seems perfectly reasonable given that neither Terrelle Pryor nor Matt McGloin distinguished themselves last season. The former ranked 44th in Football Outsiders' QB metric (ahead of only Brandon Weeden), and the latter was 29th.

Yes, we know, Schaub was terrible in 2013, but he was still better than Pryor, ranking 35th. But Schaub has played well in the past; he was 12th in 2012 and 10th in 2011, the two years the Texans won the AFC South. And now that Schaub has been named the starter in Oakland, Pryor reportedly wants out.

We can't envision much of a trade market for Pryor, who still is a long way from becoming a competent passing quarterback. Then again, as the old saying goes, it only takes one team with interest to create a market for his services.

But even if that team exists, Pryor won't command much beyond a late-round pick. Still, it's something, and for the Raiders, a team with myriad needs, that's better than nothing.

He can't wait for the 3rd game of the season when Schaub throws a pick 6? He'll be the fans fav once again.
