I do hope so. It would be a real boost to the team. He may have ties, but as ralaw said:

Can he play football? The difference between Hernandez and Jackson is that Hernandez is sitting in prison. Someone will give this guy a 1 year deal.

The Patriots had no problem paying Hernandez until he was actually arrested, even with their previous worries. The landscape is a bit different since that occurred, but there will be a team that believes it can keep him away from that life. I do hope it is the Jets, but I'm a bit iffy on whether or not they would continue to pursue. Idzik and Woody have said that they want to create a good culture in the locker room, especially after the circus of the 2012 season.
