    Raiders sign Carlos Rogers

The Oakland Raiders secondary is going to have a 49ers flavor to it in 2014. The Raiders signed cornerback Carlos Rogers to a one-year deal on Monday, the team announced. Rogers becomes the second 49ers cornerback to join the Raiders since free agency began on March 11.

As the Raiders have done all offseason, the team tweeted out a picture of their newest player signing a contract, so we can all be sure they actually signed.

Besides Rogers, Oakland also signed former San Francisco corner Tarell Brown. Brown started in 42 games over the past three seasons with the 49ers, including all 16 games in both 2011 and 2012.

Brown and Rogers were both mainstays in the 49ers secondary over the past three years. After signing with the 49ers in 2011, Rogers started in all 48 regular season games he played in and made it to one Pro Bowl (2011).

Rogers is hoping that his recent success with Brown in San Francisco's secondary will translate to success with the Raiders. "It's going to be fun. We bring leadership and experience," Rogers said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. "We helped turn the 49ers defense around and maybe that translates over here to the Raiders."

The 32-year-old cornerback was released by San Francisco in early March in a cost-cutting move that created $5.1 million in cap room for the 49ers. Before signing with San Francisco in 2011, Rogers spent six seasons with the Redskins.

I am not getting many of the Raiders moves this off-season. Rogers, while still a solid CB in the league, is 32 and signed to a one year deal. Wouldn't letting a younger player get a year of starting experience and using that money elsewhere be a better investment?

A lot of the players that the Raiders have signed are 30+ year old over the hill players that signed 1 or 2 year deals. I don't think Reggie McKenize and company are doing a very good job at roster management.
