Jaguars sign Alex Mack to offer sheet

On Wednesday, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported that Browns center Alex Mack had agreed to a five-year offer sheet from the Jaguars.

Knowing that Mack seemingly wants out of Cleveland and wants to move to Jacksonville, the NFL world was anxious to see what the contract numbers were to see if it was something the Browns, who placed the transition tag on Mack and stand to receive no compensation if he leaves, wanted to match.

Now, we have the reported numbers.

According to NFL.com, it's a five-year contract worth $42 million. The first two years would pay Mack $18 million, but the contract also states that the team can't franchise-tag him after the 2015 season.

    Also, this.

Once Mack signs that deal, the Browns will have five days to match the contract. Otherwise, Mack will play for Jacksonville.

While $18 million over two years doesn't seem like an unreasonable amount to pay Mack, the no-franchise tag clause might cause Cleveland to think hard about whether it wants to match -- particularly since it'd be easy for Mack to leave the Browns in two years.

Browns will match. Mack has the option in the contract to opt out year 3 or have 8mill guaranteed that year. It will be tough to match but rumor is they will

they will match. paying him 9 mil per for 2 years...they are already paying him 10mil for this year, so why not pay him 9 per the next 2 years. if he opts out, well, he opts out but at least you have a top notch center for the next 2 seasons.

Cleveland couldn't let him get away, but they are likely losing him in two years anyway, unless they can drastically turn things around in that time frame.
