Because the Rams only let him go not even a month ago. Plus he had been fielding offers from quite a few teams. It's not like there was no intrest in him. I'm sure salary considerations and concerns about his knee weighed into it as well. But it doesn't mean he's still not a very good LT.Comment

They still played well last year...but there are questions as to how much is really left.
I'd guess that barring injury, guys like Pace and Thomas will be above average tackles for the Bears and Jaguars at worst...when you are as talented as these guys, only injuries beyond recognition can keep them from being less then serviceable. Offensive linemen can last a long time in the league if the talent is there. Look at guys like Bruce Matthews and Kevin Mawae or even tackles like Wayne Gandy and Willie Anderson. You can still play even after your prime in the NFL as OL.Comment

Same reason a still very good Tra Thomas was only getting a few offers...he's old, and its not certain how much longer he has left in him, and he wanted a sizable deal (if $5M/yr is still sizable).

I also agree with Hass' point about his stats last year being misleading.Comment

I think Bob Whitfield is still floating around the NFL. Old bastard is still usable to somebody.
Maybe we can dig up Richmond Webb, John Fina, Big Cat Searcy, and Jeff Christy to take some meaningful snaps.Comment

Pace i foresee still doing good I really didnt want the rams to cut him as he has been the most consistent linemen for about 10-11 years. Injurys happen of course but for the rams to release him b/c of salary issues made me dissapointed
Very good pick up for the bearsLast edited by stevsta; 04-03-2009, 01:47 PM.RIPComment

LOL at "just admit you were wrong". Because he stayed healthy while he signed his contract? I'll admit being wrong when we see what happens next year.Comment

I said he IS done...now...present tense. I didn't say he was done last year. We have to see if he stays healthy and plays well in the upcoming season before anyone can be wrong.Last edited by Blick; 04-03-2009, 02:39 PM.Comment
