Jamaal Charles set to hold out

Though Chiefs running Jamaal Charles had a phenomenal season in 2012, rushing for 1,509 yards, he was even better last year, gaining 1,980 yards from scrimmage and scoring 19 total touchdowns.

Clearly, Charles is the most important offensive player in Kansas City, and now he wants to be paid like one.

Charles is scheduled to make a base salary of $2.65 million for 2014 to go with a $1 million roster bonus, but according to KCTV 5, Charles won't report to training camp and instead will hold out for more money.

Conversely, ESPN.com says the two sides are discussing a new contract but that the Chiefs expect Charles to report on time Wednesday and to begin practicing Thursday.

The Kansas City Star also wrote that the Chiefs expect to see Charles on Wednesday.

In 2010, Charles signed a six-year deal worth nearly $28 million -- not bad money -- but think about it this way.

That wasn't a very long hold out. Haven't seen terms of the new contract yet-

He deserves it imo, no brainer for the Chiefs to get this done ASAP

      Per USA Today

The extension raises Charles' compensation from $3.9 million to $8.3 million in 2014 and includes $18.1 million in new money, according to one of the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal hadn't been announced.

Definitely deserved, he's been the focal point of the KC offense since becoming a starter. He's going to have a tough go this year without 3 offensive lineman from last year though.
