Freeman started every game at K-State except the first 4 in his freshman season. I think he's more experienced than usual for a Junior QB coming out early.

The same can be said for Stafford.

Sanchez is the only guy of the three who could use some more experience.

Also, I think completion % is a better predictor of success for college QB's. Guys who were over 60% are much more likely to succeed than guys who were under 60.

Blick, I was using the Chiefs in a mock on another site and had them take Orakpo. Thoughts?

Reasoning -- Chiefs have a horrible pass rush...Need LBs and 34 DL personnel...no one else worthy of the spot

Curry is good, but not sure he fits into what the Chiefs are going for and doesn't fill the pass rush need.

I figured Raji would be good considering the move to the the 34, but not really feeling him @ #3 and I didn't feel like trading down.

      Anyway, thoughts.

I personally don't like Orakpo, but your reasoning for taking him is justified. I actually like him more than a lot of people. I think he's getting the workout warrior label unfairly. He was still productive at Texas. I'm just a little reluctant to take defensive guys from Texas. They tend to be a little disappointing. I like Everette Brown better.

The Chiefs are hard to pick for in mocks this year because I truly believe that they will try extremely hard to trade down and I believe that Scott Pioli will find a way to get it done. Plus, the Chiefs don't really need the guys that are available at the top of the draft, except for Curry.

Curry would be a nice fit as an ILB in the 3-4. I think he could even transition over to Mike in the 4-3. If the Chiefs could get him around #10, then that would be awesome. I just don't think he's worth it at #3 as a non-pass rusher.

I like Raji a lot. The Chiefs are most likely going to go with a hybrid defense because their 3-4 personnel looks like ass right now. Raji can play in either defense. Lining him up next to Dorsey in a 4-3 gives me wood. But, I think it's too early to take him at 3, especially with some of the character issues he has, and the recent positive drug test at the combine.

I've seen people argue that they could take Monroe or Smith and move Albert to RT. I don't like that idea because Albert looked great at LT in his rookie season, and I think it would be foolish to move him.

I still think Crabtree could be a possibility since Haley had such a nice tandem of WR's in Arizona and Cassel is going to need weapons to throw to.

If you asked me who I would take, I honestly don't know. You should see the Chiefs forum I post at. Nobody knows. Everybody wants to trade down. If we can't trade down, we're fucked. There are a lot of posters over there who would actually still take Stafford or Sanchez at 3, and either hold them for ransom, or keep them and make sure Cassel isn't a one hit wonder. I thought that was retarded at first, but I'm slowly starting to warm up to the idea that they would be able to make a trade easier that way, especially if Stafford goes to the Lions, and the Chiefs screw up everyone's plans and take Sanchez at 3. They would definitely get phone calls and trade offers if that happened, imo.

          Everything sounds good, except this...

Everette Brown...Florida State defensive end...in the first round...there has been a total of ONE good one...EVER (Peter Boulware)...the rest...garbo.

Yeah, I figured you would get me on that one.

I just think Brown uses his hands more effectively to defeat blocks and I think he has better pass rush moves. :dontknow:

I know these mocks are a work in progress, but this is one of the worst mock drafts I have seen in the last 6-7 years. You are definitely no Mike Mayock. Lets hope your next mock will be better than this one.
My next one will have Detroit drafting Senser81 #1 overall

IMO, alot of these guys would probably develop better if they were eased into the starters role over time - not just thrown to NFL defenses to get ripped to pieces.

I think the 3 JR QBs who will be picked in the first round of this draft (Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman) would all greatly benefit from 1-2 years of clip board holding before they are called upon to start. If they aren't given this development time I don't like any of their chances of developing into franchise qbs. Therefore, IF the Lions do draft Stafford, I'm hoping they play Culpepper for at least this year, with the eye to Stafford taking over in 2010 or 2011.

I see what yall saying but looking at Detroit's situation they'll draft Stafford, lose really bad then toss the kid in there thinking he can't do no wrong but win. Every team does this, once they start losing I guess they think they're building experience in that position and that's not the answer. I know Detroit will do this and that's why I made this claim.

Don't see the Lions taking an undersized DT. Schwartz wants a bigger defense, so DT likely won't happen this year.

I don't see the Colts taking Moreno with Hart returning this year. I hope we give the kid a chance. I definitely don't see us taking Knowshon with Nicks and Harvin on the board still.
