Sam Bradford to Miss 2014 Season with Torn ACL

What a waste. Only played two full seasons in 5 years.

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is out for the 2014 season after an MRI disclosed he tore the ACL in his left knee in Saturday night's preseason game against the Browns, coach Jeff Fisher confirmed."[This is] devastating for Sam," said Fisher, who met with Bradford Sunday morning. It is the same injury that sidelined Bradford in the middle of last season.Bradford took what appeared to be a light hit from Cleveland's Armonty Bryant as he threw incomplete to tight end Jared Cook. Bradford shrugged Bryant off, but the defensive lineman made contact with the quarterback's left knee.Bradford fell to the ground in pain as Rams doctors and trainers rushed to his side. He limped off the field under his own power but favoring the left leg as he went to the locker room for further examination.Veteran Shaun Hill replaced Bradford, going 2 of 6 for 45 yards.Bradford was making his second start of the preseason after returning from a season-ending torn left ACL suffered against Carolina on Oct. 20, 2013. Bradford went 4 of 9 for 77 yards before leaving.

I think his upside is like a stationary Alex Smith and he's injury proned like Rex Grossman. Said it in the off-season, they should've cut him, saved a ton of money, and used their top pick for a QB. Instead they picked up an offensive lineman and will probably (should) find a new starting QB next off-season. Doubt they have the #2 overall pick like they did in the 2014 NFL draft too so it'll make finding that top franchise QB a lot harder. Terrible management from the Rams front office. I do think his loss is being a little overhyped.

Rams get Winston or Mariotta next year and proceed to be a pretty solid team in the coming years.

I have to wonder if his career as a starter is over now.

I always find the term injury prone troubling. This is the most violent of North America's major pro sports.

When people refer to Terrell Davis, they don't say injury prone, they lament the horrible injury and his bad luck. While I don't hold Sam Bradford at the same level as Terrell Davis ... his injuries have been legit, bad luck and if I'm a Rams' fan, I lament the injuries.

Hasn't Bradford been injured more often than TD though? He missed time dating back to his Senior year, 6 games in 2011, missed 9 games a year ago, gonna miss all of this season. It's gotten kind of ridiculous.

I get your thinking ... but all these injuries are not a guy complaining about being sore and not playing.

All that said, I'm not holding a pity party for Sam Bradford. He's set for life. The last of the crazy rookie contracts.

That would be considered "being soft".
Sam is the definition of Injury prone...one who is prone to injury.

Sucks for him, but I think the Rams are ready to move on. Probably pretty pissed they didn't draft a qb this year now.

I think they solidified their lines this draft and should dominate the trenches on the defensive side of the ball for years to come. A QB for them in the 1st round next draft day is a no brainer at this point.

Problem is the team didn't do that much worse with Kellen Clemens at QB. They went 4-5 with him vs 3-4 with Bradford and ended up with the 13th overall pick. I'd put Shaun Hill as a better QB than Clemens. Wouldn't be too surprising if they ended with 6 or 7 wins again and a pick around #10. Could make it difficult for them to get Winston or Mariota.

It's sad because this was probably going to be the best rams team he's been on.

He'll be a solid backup somewhere and eventually get another chance at some point.
