College Football week of 9/27 Talking Points

Saw a few games, read the box scores of most others. Here are my talking points:

*Boston College loses at home to Colorado State (?) after defeating USC. USC must be kicking themselves.

*Mizzou defeats S. Carolina after losing to Indiana (?). Mizzou must be kicking themselves.

*Arizona State is officially a pretender.

*Stunning result of the week: Akron stomping Pitt.

*Penn State is still an offensively-challenged joke. Northwestern's defense outscored them 7-6. Early line on Wisconsin-Northwestern game is Northwestern getting only 9.5 points. PLEASE BET $10,000 ON WISCONSIN.

    *VSN is highly inactive.

*Michigan looked terrible again, losing at home to Minnesota. This is on the heels of a loss to Utah. Both Utah and Minnesota aren't bad, but Michigan has played poorly. Rumor now is that Michigan is trying to lure John Harbaugh away from the Ravens and wants nothing to do with Jim Harbaugh.

*Tennessee almost beat Georgia, Arkansas almost beat Texas A&M. Those two teams seem to almost beat a lot of teams. I guess Arkansas is 0-14 in their last 14 conference games, which I found surprising. I'm sure Tennessee's record is similar.

*Speaking of SEC, its possible that the conference champ will have 2 losses. Does that get them into the 4-team playoff? I think it should, but we shall see.

    This upcoming weekend has some tremendous matchups...Texas A&M/Miss St, Oklahoma/TCU, Stanford/ND, Alabama/Ole Miss, LSU/Auburn, Nebraska/Michigan State.

Pitt losing at home as a 3 TD favorite is a shock. Looking forward to this weekend's matchups. Florida must win @ Tennessee this week. They have LSU, Mizzo in the swamp then Georgia which I'm sure Gurley will run all over them. I hope this season they stay relevant.

If Michigan really did return their QB to the game with a concussion, Hoke's done. It would be a more than convenient excuse for them to get rid of him. Considering the leaks from a big program like that, it's only a matter of time.

Tennessee played a tough game against Georgia. In the end, they couldn't stop Gurley but they did a great job getting ahead early. What hurt was losing Worley for a few series, that took their momentum away. He was exploiting a weak UGA secondary. I definitely agree with the SEC conference champions having two losses, at least from the East.

Navy lost a tough one to Western Kentucky, but each team left points on the field for the other to capitalize on. I blame the playcalling and going with too many passes despite no rhythm present, as well as the injuries up the middle. They lost the starting center and left guard to injuries, and that took away runs up the middle especially in the second half when WKU keyed on them.
