Jeff Garcia to return to the Bay Area..

    .. as an Oakland Raider.

Jeff Garcia in Silver and Black?

    Yes.

NBC Bay Area has confirmed Garcia is negotiating a deal with the Oakland Raiders. The contract could be finalized as early as Sunday.

A source close to the negotiations tells NBC Bay Area Sports Director Raj Mathai a deal is "close. It will probably get done."

The 39 year-old quarterback will have the opportunity to compete for the starting position with JaMarcus Russell, though Garcia will likely serve as a backup.

This will be a homecoming for Garcia, who grew up in Gilroy and graduated from San Jose State University. Garcia was also a 3-time Pro Bowler with the 49ers earlier this decade. He spent the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I don't know.. the starting 350 pound QB ahead of him may make it really hard on Jeff to get that job.

(I pretty much agree with your post)

      lol...why?

Guess they're not that high on Russel. Go figure since he's not that great, all hype no game.

He'll be starting at some point in this season, won't matter though they still ain't going to the playoffs.

Good, hopefully Garcia can teach Russell a thing or two about being an NFL QB. I'm tired of seeing the Raiders in last place or third in the AFC West.

I think the Raiders should start Garcia. The Raiders could probably reach 8-8 with Garcia and if the Raiders could finally beat the Chargers then who knows what could happen. I am on board with whoever Cable wants to start. Russell looked better and better as the season went on and i still think he'll become a good quarterback.

Garcia will only start if russell gets hurt.

Now it looks like Andrew Walter, Bruce Gradkowski, and Marques Tuiasosopo will be fighting for the #3 quarterback spot.

I think you make like the 2006 Titans. Start Garcia and if he plays poorly or if the team starts slow with an 0-3 or 1-4 record or something like that then let Russell start the rest of the season.

I think they should start russell and let him play through his struggles.

You should just cut all of them and save yourself the trouble of watching that terrible competition.

I would have said "Because Russell has the accuracy of a Charlie Frye and Quincy Carter love child" but this works too.
