Josh Gordon fails another drug test

I think he might really be done this time. Damn shame too.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon may not get another chance in the NFL after failing another drug test. He has been suspended for at least a year, effective immediately...

The Browns couldn't deal him fast enough.

With the rumor floating that Indy might take him in, I'm glad it happened now instead of another huge fail of a trade by Grigson

I don't care how stupid anybody thinks he is, and he is to an extent, but even more egregious is the fact that people are getting hit harder for pot and alcohol then for beating their wives, cheating in games, paying for injuries, etc, etc, etc. I'd be willing to guess that he failed this around the holidays, as these things never surface immediately after, so you told the kid he couldn't raise a glass with his family and friends while the rest of the United States is allowed to do as they please. NFL's priorities are so far beyond fucked, quickly disposing of and botching investigations, where's Goodell's suspension for being a repeat offender? Guy has swept investigations under the rug, destroyed evidence and tried to protect other team's and player's images but they drag this kid through the dirt because he smoked pot. The test last year that he failed, was a lower percentage of THC than is required by the US Government to violate probation/proclaim a dirty piss test in somebody whom is court ordered to do so. Traces of alcohol/marijuana, regardless of how many times somebody has failed a test should NEVER warrant somebody losing their career.

I agree that the NFL priorities are jacked...but this has zero to do with that. Plain and simple he was 100% aware with what he can and can't do. Being able to have a drink is a privilege... one that he had revoked by his employer until he shows he could make good decisions. That is exactly why the rule was in place. He showed that he could not make proper decisions earlier. The rule is as much about decision making as it is a failed test. If you can't control that ONE SMALL THING then how are you responsible enough to play in the NFL/go work at your 9 to 5.

The failed tests didn't cause him to ruin his career, his decision making after the 1st time caused him to ruin his career. This one is on Gordon 100% and no one else.

If my employer wanted to increase my salary by 1000% to roughly what Josh Gordon was making, but told me I had to stop drinking and couldn't touch any drugs... I think I'd take the money and be quite fine.

A privilege is something that can be revoked due to circumstances. A "right" is something that cannot be revoked. Pretty self explanatory.

Someone can be kept from exercising their rights. In that sense, a right can be taken away.

I call bullshit, in what fantasy world is it ok for an employer to tell an employee that they are not allowed to consume an alcoholic beverage on their own personal time? He has the right as an american citizen to consume alcohol, he hasn't hurt anybody, he's not destroying lives. If he had received a DUI, and was therein compromising the reputation of the league, then you suspend him, but not for a trace of alcohol, or a trace of pot. In 5 years when more than half of the country has recreational marijuana laws in place and the NFL revises their policy on marijuana we are going to look back and shame the NFL for taking a player's career away. Players have done so much worse to embarrass "The Shield" and gotten off with so much less. He's being made an example of, when the hammer should be coming down much harder on the guys that actually harming other human beings or compromising the integrity of the game.
