He needs to develop. He's only a teenager. Too hard to say until he gets another year or two under his belt.
Terrelle Pryor

He's a QB... I laugh everytime I see someone say he should be moved to WR. Pryor might be the most physically gifted player this decade (I might be exaggerating so keep in mind I'm looking at this through scarlet and gray glasses). He's got the arm strength, the biggest thing holding him back is his mechanics... and they are working with him pretty hard on that this spring.
Pryor led the Big Ten in passing efficiency despite coming in in the fall, dude didn't even have spring ball to get acclimated.
He came into tOSU at 226 lbs... he's up to 239 now.Last edited by Sportsbuck; 04-11-2009, 05:24 PM. -
Pryor is a QB and a gifted one at that. OSU is going to thrive with him under center, if the WR core around him can step up he'll be throwing all day on defenses. Another key is RB Saine/Herron. OSU is best when they're balanced. When they can throw and run the ball they're dangerous. Too much of the offense was on the back of Chris Wells last season, this season if Terrel can lead, and the talent around him step up into the number one roles. OSU is dangerous and this kid only gets better.25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

At this point in their development Pryor is pretty far beyond where VY was... but keep in mind he played through an injury in the Fiesta Bowl (Which is why his passes looked like they had no velocity on them, and most likely prompted Boeckman seeing as much time as he did).Comment

Originally posted by HokieWe'll see. I think Pryor will have his successes in college football. But I think once he gets to the NFL he's screwed. Scrambling QB's just haven't been a success with being a true QB in the NFL. And its not like Pryor is the fastest player on the field like a Michael Vick. I don't think their is any question whether he will enter the draft as a QB or WR. But whether he'll be a good QB in the NFL is questionable.
Pryor's pretty damn close to being the fastest player on the field a lot of times..Comment

It seems while at Va Tech I remember Vick leading the country in passing efficiency...I believe it was during his redshirt freshman season. IMO Prior much like most dual threats at QB dominate college football, but generally if kept at the QB spot have marginal success in the NFL. Due to his raw ability some coach will believe he can make Prior into an NFL star, but without the intangibles to play QB he will struggle and cost a coach and a GM their job. The issue is that guys like Prior, Vick, Young, etc is that they’re simply athletes playing QB and their success came from them simply being bigger, stronger and faster. Due to this generally these types of guys never developed the necessary tools to be effective passers and trying to acquire these skills in big time college football or the NFL isn’t the place to learn it.Comment

Look at TP at the beginning of the season, his passes were floaters, they were wobbling they didn't look clean and crisp as they should. Then you take it to the later games in the season and the kid was getting good velocity, tight spirals, and hitting the marks. They kept the play book limited, two reasons. Tressel doesn't like to show all his cards in the season, and two, Pryor was a young QB that Tressel didn't want failing early and losing confidence in his game.
A lot of people hate him, but Tressel is smart with his play calling, and he's damn good at finding talent, he gave Youngstown State three championships and I bet only a quarter if not less of the posters on this board can tell me where Youngstown State is located without looking it up on Google. You take that kind of coach, with his staff that he's brought into OSU and Pryor will get the development he needs. Troy Smith was a Tressel recruit, first season under center 16 pass TD's, 11 Rush TD's, Senior year, second year under center 30 pass TD's, 1 Rush TD.
Tressel knows what he's doing with Pryor, Smith put up a 161.0 rating at QB his senior year. Pryor, a 146.5 rating, his freshman year. Give him time.25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment
