im not a huge madden fan but dam, he is an icon in TV, gaming an coaching. 73 years old. its gotta suck reaching that point and knowing your at the end of your life.

im sure he doesnt sit around with regrets, but at the same time is his legecy any consolation for the fact that death is right around the corner.

Nothing personal about Chris, it's just the way he talks. He always pauses between words and chuckles for no reason, I hated listening to him in 09.
I guess the workload of taking the bus around to every game each week gets a bit old.

Honestly, I'd rather have Collinsworth over a lot of the other guys out there. Not over all of them, but def over a lot of them.

They should just set it up where he can comment the games from his house.

                  Really sad to hear.
Definitely a guy you take for granted. As FT stated the guys forgotten more about football than any of us will ever know.
The guys impact on football is immense , there really arent that many non players that can claim to be an absolute icon. The mans name is synonymous with football. Even on an off day theres no more insightful guy in the booth than Madden. One of the few if not the only guy who always refused to delve into off the field shenanigans outside of what it did to a player on the field. Never got into the BS tabloid aspects of the game and always a wealth of inside info and great views on players/teams/trends.
Truly is an end of an era.
Best reason to have a license.

Honestly, the guy has forgotten more about football than 99% of people will ever know and sadly IMO he was forced to become and stay a caricature to make money and keep his job/ratings etc.

Get him off camera and I bet he would be an absolutley fasinating guy to talk to and pick his brain about things.
Madden is one of the brightest minds in the NFL circles by all accounts.

For those who don't like collinsworth, get over it...you'll live.

Happy and sad at the same time. He used to be great but for the past few years he really wore on my nerves...which is hard since I usually cut Favre fans a little slack :D
