I am all for the Boldin trade but would be pissed if they didn't address the secondary with either of their 2nd round picks.

    The Golden Turducken
Season 1: 11-5 (Super Bowl Champion)
Season 2: 12-4 (NFC West Champion)

    Season 3: 9-4

Johnson is back on the table, Vontae Davis still has his supporters but the case being made in draft meetings is that the corners currently on the roster can excel and corner is not the most glaring need. Larry English is still getting a lot of love though. A few weeks ago, I said the two front-runners were English and Davis. It seems now that the front-runners are English and Johnson.

Either way, it is looking more and more like the organization is going to go with defensive line in the first round. Peria Jerry was also visiting this week, but, there are some concerns about his size and his ability to play defensive tackle in Jim Bates' defense. However, Peria Jerry is a name to look at if English and Johnson were off the board. Aaron Maybin is also moving up the Bucs' board as a "Plan B" if English or Johnson are gone.

      To sum it up:

      Front-Runners:
      Larry English
      Michael Johnson

      "Plan B" picks:
      Peria Jerry
      Aaron Maybin

Sorry for all of the info at once, it can be overwhelming I am sure Hasselbeck, but, with JG out and some additional staff gone, it is a little tougher to get draft scoop...lol

English makes a lot of sense for you guys though.. he's kind of a jack of all trades defender with excellent sideline to sideline speed.. he can get after the passer and more importantly, should he be kind of what Derrick Brooks was for Tampa.. is he can cover. He's not a liability back there, and as is well known.. in the Tampa 2 scheme.. you need your LB's, particularly the Sam and Will ones.. to be able to cover the flats and the spots left vacant by the corners playing their zones.

Great mock, hass. Hope you're wrong about the Falcons pick, because I think Cushing is a giant douche, but the Pettigrew pick everyone else thinks we'll make also has me shaking my head.

Ideally, we trade down. I also saw a crazy rumor posted on af.com about trading for Glenn Dorsey. He's probably touchable due to him not fitting in the 3-4, and we have assets to throw at them. Namely the #24 pick, or the #55 and Jamal Anderson or Jerious Norwood....The Gonzalez trade may still be in play as well. If we don't trade with the Chiefs maybe another team would be interested in moving into the first either way we do it I'm pulling for a trade or BDPA not named Cushing.

Like the Mioli pick in round 2. We need help at DT bad and he looks legit.

I agree. That is why he is the front-runner right now. However, the Tampa-2 is not really going to be the scheme that Bates runs. He will run some principles of the Tampa-2, but, this will be his defense. More bump-n-run, man-to-man coverage. Bigger bodies on the interior, etc.

It would be a difficult situation if Curry did fall because I don't know if we should take him or not. The Jaguars have Ingram, Durant, and Daryl Smith as our linebackers right now which is pretty solid and then when we play some 3-4 we can stand Quentin Groves up. So Linebacker is not our biggest need. But if Curry falls to 8 Im sure plenty of teams would want to trade up with us. So if we can move back to possibly 14 or so and then grab Vontae Davis or Darius Butler then I'd be really happy. In the second round its just based on talent available for us, if Ron Brace is there then I would love to grab him, but if someone like Britt or Nicks is there then we gotta get them. I don't really want to reach so high for Barden, I don't see him being that good.

I'm sorry, but if Curry drops to 8.. you take him. That's incredible value.. and you throw out picking for need and instead pick the BPA.

Curry would instantly be the best LB on your roster, IMO

Yeah I know we would probably go Curry, I just don't know if it would be the best move by us, we have a lot more needs to address other than Linebacker. Plus Gene Smith wants to stockpile picks this year, and I'm sure at 8 a lot of teams would love to move up and get Curry, so it could go either way, we could get Curry, which your right, it would help our run defense a lot, or we could trade out of 8 and get more picks and pick for need opposed to the BPA situation.

Pretty amazing how the first 3 picks are locks, yet you've managed to screw that up (KC taking Monroe instead of Curry?!). I am going a 3-pick mock...Stafford, Smith, Curry. I bet I'll get more picks right with my mock than yours. The Packers passing on Orakpo to take yet another DT in the 1st round? Clay Matthews going ahead of teammates Cushing and Maualuga? Larry English a mid-1st round pick?

This mock keeps getting worse and worse. Even Dan Pompei's was better.
