Jets' Gholston still believes he can be dominant

Yeah but Gholston couldn't even get on the field. I'm not writing him off...I said he will become a very servicable player...whats wrong with that?.I just was responding to someone saying that RR worked for Suggs when Suggs was a beast way before he ever even met Rex.

I agree that Suggs was a beast before Rex. But, it's not like Gholston wasn't productive in college. I think he has the potential to be a lot more than serviceable.

mangini showed last year that he didnt know how to utilize the skills of one of the great quarterback ever in brett favre. i remember one situation where the were 1st and goal on like the four. they had favre at quarterback and mangini had them run the ball three times in a row. hes obviously no "mangenious."

Your right, any smart coach would let a gunslinging quarterback with average accuracy try and throw a touchdown pass from the 4 fucking yard line instead of letting his workhorse running back try and pound it in.

What did Suggs have like 50 sacks in college? One is natural and the other is a robot. Give me a break. Serviceable at best....Hell Jay Richardson has had a better NFL career so far and that says a lot considering they played for the same team.

The man dominated the entire Michigan offensive line (Which included #1 pick Jake Long who he beat for Long's only sack of the year) to the tune of four, had four sacks against Wisconsin, and played great against Ciron Black in the NC.

First off, GTFOH with Gholston not being dominant in college. The stats disprove that and anyone with half a brain who watched a Buckeye game in 2007 will tell you that.

Jay Richardson? Seriously? Are you seriously using Jay Richardson to support your argument? First off, Richardson and Gholston are two completely different types of players. Second off, Richardson never had to switch positions going into the NFL, while Gholston had to learn a whole new position after playing DE his whole career. Third off, considering last year was Richardson's second year in the league, you would think he'd have had the better career thus far then the rookie..

So your going to tell me, that a 6'4 260 pounder that runs a 4.58 and has a 42 inch vert and is a physical freak can only be servicable at best? LOL.

What worked for Suggs? Suggs didn't need ANY help. Gholstons name should not be in the same sentence. Suggs was a DOMINANT pass rusher since he came out the womb. Gholston was/is a project. I think he can become very serviceable with RR's leadership but a star he will not be. Suggs is a natural player, Gholston is workout warrior.

Listen to the Ryan interview a few months back yourself. When he met Suggs they said they didnt have a clue what to do with him , he couldnt understand the D playbook or anything , Ryan and Bart Scott mainly took him under their wing and molded him. Ryan says he sees alot of the same Qualities in Vernon.

Wasnt Suggs kinda late to pick up the playbook his rookie season? A lot of people questioned how he'd turn out because he was such a one way player.

There was a lot I didn't like about both sides of the ball and Ryan quickly said this team will be WAY more aggressive. These guys are going to fly all over the field. Many times the Jets seemed just too late...their rushers seemed too slow...this team looked to conservative.

As a Jets fan that watched nearly every minute of every game last season, I am very glad that Mangini is out of New York. He dropped the ball on so many occasions; it drove many of us crazy in New York. As Dave said, one bad season isn't enough to write off a player. Hopefully he can can a strong showing this year.

Maybe Suggs was a beast before he came to Baltimore to play for Rex, but what about Adalius Thomas? or Bart Scott? or Jarrett Johnson? or Jim Leonhard? I could really go on too. Nobody had a clue who these guys were until they came here and Rex made them studs.

Rex is a master at putting players in position to succeed and coaching them up, and he will do that with Gholston too.
