no it was one big cluster of bad players, bad coaching, bad management and bad ownership.

When you go 0-16 it's more than just the coaches...it's the players, system, coaches, ownership, the damn detroit school busses, street sweapers, janitorial union, state assembly....point is it's everybody involved in the hell the is the detroit franchise.

INCLUDING the fans, who have been pissing me off more than anyone lately (no one in particular from this site). I'm sure this opens the door for a witty response (all jokes welcome!) but I'm so sick of hearing Lions fans say "it's the same old stupid Lions" or "we're still going to suck", etc. We have a loyal fanbase, but 80% of them are whiners and complainers. Why not be the best fans in the league? Why not trust our coaches and GMs to make good decisions, why not trust our players to pan out, why not be optimistic?

I remember when Nick Saban came to Alabama, the FIRST thing he did there was tell all the fans to be the best they could possibly be, and always support the program no matter what. Before the game against Western Kentucky this season (a weaker opponent to say the least), Saban said on a radio show that he "didn't give a [expletive] who Alabama is playing; the fans better be in the stands and be there for the players." (he later apologized for his poor choice of words, and said he was "trying to stress how much we need the fans to help us get through.")

Is success ALL because of the fans? Of course not. But when the fans have the team's back, and every single player and coach in the locker room knows that the fans are excited and enthusiastic about what they're doing, it makes for a better football program, which is the foundation of success. Let's turn the corner, and let's do it right now.

The Lions are trying to build through the draft not FA , FA spending doesnt pay off that much for teams .

So at this point of course your going to see no additions .

But the Lions should be happy with 2 wins lol

Is Nick "Bobby Petrino original" Saban really what you want to model off?

And i see what your saying but when a team has as many busts as the Lions have and goes 0-16 its hard for the Fans to be positive ... the players have to give them something to feed off every now and then.

Why in the hell should fans be 100% supportive of this team? We've got the worst owner in sports who literally never says anything about the way this team is run. They don't do anything the fans want, they gave Millen a fucking extension before realizing that Lions fans might actually take over the team in a coup and execute Millen and Ford at midfield.

They are going to take Stafford on Saturday despite this city wanting Jason Smith or Aaron Curry. We all can see what wins Super Bowls except for them, we want to be known for defense yet they keep going offense.

Bottom line, the Lions organization is backwards as fuck.

I personally don't think he did anything wrong. He told Miami he wasn't leaving because at the time he really was planning on staying, and he also didn't want it to be a distraction. Of course he's not gonna say he's leaving next year when it's the middle of the season. Then after the season he told the owner that he'd at the very least respect his contract and hopefully past that, but the owner just told him to pack his bags so he left. But that's a whole nother debate.

Because even through all of this, we still have a team that is capable of winning. And if you can build positive energy through the fanbase, that would absolutely trickle down to the players and coaches.. the same way our negative energy has been trickling down for 50 years. A lot of people think the fans don't make a difference, I think the fans are the backbone of a quality and stable program. And if we are going to expect our players to perform at a high level, which I certainly do, then we as fans need to perform at that same high level. A high level of excitement and enthusiasm, and trust, and loyalty.

If this team needs ANYTHING right now, it's not a new QB or stud middle linebacker. It's POSITIVE ENERGY. We need to be positive to effect our team. My goal for the Lions this year is to win a championship, and hopefully they have that same goal. Why shoot for anything else? Why try to win 5 games when you can try to win all the games? I feel like I'm a part of this team - even though it's a small part, and I'm gonna be responsible for upholding my end of the bargain: being the best fan that I possibly can and being positive about what the Detroit Lions are doing right now to win a Superbowl.
