    Aso21Raiders' 2009 NFL Mock Draft #4

    Aso21Raiders’ 2009 NFL Mock Draft

    1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
The deal looks almost complete. The deal most likely will get done before the draft begins. There is a chance that the Lions sign linebacker Aaron Curry who has just said he is willing to sign a contract for less money that last years first overall pick, tackle Jake Long.

    2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
The Lions offensive line has looked horrid over the past couple of seasons. They have released Orlando Pace and have already started building the offensive line with the signing of center Jason Brown.

    3. Kansas City Chiefs - Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
The Chiefs are expected to play a mix of 4-3 and 3-4. Jackson can play at a high level on both types of defense and recently his stock has sky rocketed.

X 4. Seattle Seahawks - Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
Matt Hasselbeck has one year left on his contract and turns 34 in september. With the biggest worry about Sanchez being his 16 starts in college, going to the Seahawks would be an ideal situation for him as he would get a season to sit and learn the NFL game.

X 5. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
If the best defensive player in the draft falls to Cleveland, as bad as there defense is they'll take him. With the idea of Braylon Edwards being traded to New York looks less likely everyday, so does the idea of the Browns drafting Crabtree.

    6. Cincinnati Bengals - Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
I would have Orakpo here but Eugene Monroe is an elite tackles and looks like a safe pick. Palmer is coming back from injury and their current starter at left tackle, Levi Jones, is injury prone and overpaid.

    7. Oakland Raiders - Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech ~
Well i am certain the Raiders will go wide receiver. It was a tough decision for me of who to go with between Crabtree and Maclin knowing Al Davis' love for speed

    8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
The most important asset to the Jaguars offense is their offensive line to be able to run the ball. Tra Thomas is 35 and Smith could immediately start at right tackle. He is also a dominating run blocker and a mauler and could also kick inside to guard. His off the field questions may scare the Jaguars away but he is the most talented lineman in this years draft.

    9. Green Bay Packers - B.J. Raji, NT, Boston College
The most important part of a 3-4 defense is getting a nose tackle. Raji is also great value at the number nine pick.

    10. San Francisco 49ers - Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas
Orakpo is great value here and the 49ers need to get more of a pass rush. With Singletary as head coach i also think he'll want to create a great defense first.

    11. Buffalo Bills - Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn St.
Aaron Maybin is a great pass rusher and has put on weight trying to become a more complete defensive end. The Bills desperately need a better pass rush. There is no more Jason Peters in Buffalo but i can only see the Bills drafting a left tackle if Andre Smith falls to them.

    12. Denver Broncos - Robert Ayers, DE/OLB, Tennessee
Without Jay Cutler the Broncos offense won't be as potent. With this the Broncos must become a complete team and find the pieces to fit into their new 3-4 defense.

    13. Washington Redskins - Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
They need more depth at tackle and a young guy. Oher i think is better value here than any defensive end or any other tackle still available.

    14. New Orleans Saints - Malcom Jenkins, DB, Ohio St.
The Saints secondary isn't the best and getting a guy like Jenkins will allow them to experiment with him as a cornerback and safety.

    15. Houston Texans - Everette Brown, DE, Florida St.
Last season the only consistent pass rush the Texans got was from Mario Williams. Their defense is bad and already signed Cato June and Buster Davis at linebacker.

    16. San Diego Chargers - Chris Wells, RB, Ohio St.
Chris Wells may be the best available here. Also Chargers beat writer Kevin Acee still believes the Chargers will draft a running back in the first round. He is different than Darren Sproles and still a little bit like Ladainian Tomlinson.

    17. New York Jets - Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas St.
They have a very good running attack on offense and a defense that has a lot of talent on it that is coached by Rex Ryan. Freeman looks a lot like Flacco of last year and so do the Jets team. Looks like the exact same scenario that happend in Baltimore last year.

    18. Denver Broncos (from Bears) - Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
I don't think there are any defensive lineman worthy of this pick that can play in a 3-4. I believe they will try to improve their secondary with Butler. They are without Jay Cutler so they will have improve there secondary all around.

    19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
Past Antonio Bryant and Michael Clayton at wide receiver the Buccaneers don't have anyone guaranteed a roster spot for the bucs. Jeremy Maclin would bring a lot of speed to the Buccaneers offense and surround quarterbacks Luke McCown or Byron Leftwich (whoever is going to start) with more talent.

    20. Detroit Lions (from Cowboys) - Rey Maualuga, MLB, USC
There current starter is Cody Spencer... They need a linebacker in the middle to lead the defense. Maualuga would be surrounded by great linebackers in Ernie Sims and Julian Peterson which would lead to a smooth transition.

    21. Philadelphia Eagles - Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
The Eagles Westbrook has had injury problems the past few seasons and Westbrook is 30. No more Buckhalter either. I have heard reports that have said that Moreno is top on their board.

    22. Minnesota Vikings - Eben Britton, OT, Arizona
The Vikings look to keep their offensive elite and get Britton here. They don't have anyone real good at right tackle and the Vikings have shown interest in Britton.

    23. New England Patriots - Connor Barwin, DE/OLB, Cincinnati
He can play defensive end, outside linebacker in the Patriots 3-4 and also tight end. Sounds like the perfect replacement for Mike Vrabel.

    24. Atlanta Falcons - Brian Cushing, OLB, USC
Cushing would fill in immediately for Michael Boley at the weakside linebacker spot. With so many departures on defense and the trade for Tony Gonzalez they will definitely go defense.

    25. Miami Dolphins - Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
With the loss of Goodman at cornerback they have a hole to fill. Davis is the best available corner here.

    26. Baltimore Ravens - Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
The Ravens have many small receivers. Heyward-Bey is a bigger target and would also give the Ravens the ability to take advantage of Flacco's strong arm and stretch the field with deep passes. Heyward-Bey ran the fastest forty time at the combine with a 4.30.

    27. Indianapolis Colts - Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
Peria Jerry would be perfect for a Tampa 2 defense. He can get a rush from the interior and help the Colts stop the run.

    28. Buffalo Bills (from Eagles via Panthers) - Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma St.
The pick here is between a left tackle and a tight end. Of those two positions Pettigrew is the best available and would give Trent Edwards much needed help and really open up their offense.

    29. New York Giants - Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers
The Giants let Amani Toomer go and released Burress most likely because of his off field problems. Getting a receiver is the Giants most important need here and Britt is the best guy here. He is also a tall receiver which is important because when eli misses, he misses high.

    30. Tennessee Titans - Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest.
Harper is aging and the Titans need more depth at cornerback.

    31. Arizona Cardinals - Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut
With J.J. Arrington gone and Edgerrin James status with the team looking like it may be uncertain for the upcoming season the Cardinals draft Donald Brown.

    32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Max Unger, C/G, Oregon
The weakest link to the Steelers offense was their offensive line. Unger is the best available here and is a versatile lineman.

Precisely...the general consensus is Davis will select Maclin over Crabtree because of the speed factor.

Naturally, I love this mock. I would shit a fuckin brick if Crabtree fell to the Niners.

Yea, i am guessing he'll take Maclin over Crabtree just for that reason. No information about where the Raiders are gonna go has been leaked. Just speculation purely. For some teams, they have shown and said that they are interested in a certain player, but not the Raiders.

Nice mock, thanks for recognizing the fact that the Broncos don't need a MLB.

Nice mock Aso but I cant see us passing on Crabtree, Maclin many say just for the fact that he is fast, but no one out of the organization has said that only people who are just making speculation, If Crabtree falls to us I guarantee AL will take him

Maclin over Crabtree? Why? I know he's faster, but..... Why?

Note: William Thomas is back to being Tra Thomas.

Pretty solid mock ... though it sounds as though Washington is doing everything they can to get into the top five to get Sanchez.

I think he'll go very early in the second round. Maybe to the Browns.

Yeah take the kid on steroids over him !!!! FTW

I know this is a mock so i understand why being slow at the combine will have lowered you but on to another point .... the combine is dumb . Boldin ran super slow at the combine and got drafted real late because of it (late 2nd i think) look where hes at now .

Combine is the most overated thing in sports.

I completely agree....but it weighs heavily on the owners for some reason

My gut feeling tells me Washington is gonna have a deal with K.C. for the #3 pick before the week is over, so they can take Sanchez. And K.C. would be thrilled to move down to #13. Pioli is dying to trade that #3.
