John Beck we hardly knew thee

Must suck to only last two years on the team that drafted you and already be 45 years old.

    Dolphins release QB Beck

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Quarterback John Beck, selected in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft by Miami, was released by the Dolphins on Monday.

"We want to thank John for his work ethic and his professionalism," said Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland. "We wish him well in the future."

Beck, the 40th selection overall and fourth quarterback taken in 2007, started in four of the five games he appeared in during his rookie season, completing 60-of-107 passes for 559 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. He lost all four of his starts.

The Dolphins already have a pair of quarterbacks on their roster in starter Chad Pennington and Chad Henne. They also drafted West Virginia QB Pat White in the second round over the weekend.

I'd say we'd take a look at him but the trade for Kitna and the selection of Skater McGee nullifies any need for him.

He'll probably go to the Ravens. Troy Smith is in his final year and Cam Cameron is the one who drafted him. I was a huge John Beck fan when he was drafted but he never really got a fair chance. In honor of Beck...

Interesting to see what team gives this guy a chance, I still think he could turn out to be a pretty solid quarterback.

LOL at the Dolphins fans who were upset with the Pennington signing, saying John Beck was the QB of the future. Noodle-armed BYU guys who are 30 years old and rack up passing yardage against 5'8" white CBs from Air Force tend to do nothing in the NFL.

As if Marshall faces way tougher competition than BYU? If I didn't know better I'd think you were talking about Chad Pennington here and not Jon Beck.

Are you retarded? Pennington had already proven himself in the NFL.

Answer the question! What retard said that John Beck was the Dolphins' future after Pennington was signed?

They should be hung from a tree by their balls.

The Dolphins forum I go to were all hot and heavy for Beck I was one of the few who was not a fan and didn't think he would be anything more then a backup and I would be crucified for it.

Most fans were opposed to the Pennington signing because he was a Jet but they got over that fast.

People liked Beck because many thought he showed the same qualities as Brady Quinn but wasn't as hyped and could be drafted later. So essentially the Dolphins thought they could get a better quarterback in the second round and then get a returner in the first round (lol).

I think he might turn out decent but no way he was worth the 9th overall pick.

lulz, John Beck to join the Ravens. SHOCKER!

Yeah, he'll only be a backup, but Cam Cameron just can't swallow his pride can he.
