Texas Tech coach comments on Eric Mangini

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, who saw his quarterback go undrafted and his star wide receiver slip down in the first round of the NFL draft, had plenty to say about both situations after the proceedings ended.

Meanwhile, Leach said that Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini is to blame for former Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree falling to the 10th pick in the first round. Reports out of Cleveland said that the Browns didn't like Crabtree's attitude when he visited the team prior to the draft.

"Michael Crabtree has been more successful as a receiver than that guy as a coach at this point," Leach said of Mangini, according to media reports of a conference call. "Part of the reason is [Crabtree's] too shy to be like that."

Leach said Crabtree isn't a "diva."

"My definition of a diva is someone who's loud and self-absorbed," Leach told reporters. "Michael Crabtree is the furthest thing from loud that I've seen. ... Let's see how all those non-divas do up in Cleveland this year."

"I'm happy for Stephen McGee," Leach told The Dallas Morning News. "The Dallas Cowboys like him more than his coaches at A&M did."
        I thought that was funny.

Funny...Harrell is a Cowboy as well...we shall see who is a better QB, McGee or Harrell. We'll see what excuses Leach has when he gets beat out.

Why dont we just blame Mangini for the holocaust while we're at it.

Is any coach more shit on than this guy? Geez.

Leach was acting butthurt that McGee got picked but Harrell didn't.

Took a few shots at Texas A&M in the same article senser pulled that from.

So does Lonie Paxton - whats your point?

Mangini is one of the worst coaches in football and it's not even close.

Coming from Mike Leach, a guy who truly has accomplished nothing in his career, neither as a player (he wasn't one) nor a coach means there is a point that the man shouldn't be criticizing anyone.

We can all make fun of Norv Turner and Wanny and Mangini all we want because they suck as a head coach and its ha ha stuff, but, professionally, for a guy like Leach to come out and openly criticize a guy with Super Bowl rings and a playoff berth at the highest level of the sport is insulting. Leach, of all people, shouldn't be casting stones.

This is the same Mike Leach that criticizes the NFL for "not being able to teach a player how to take a snap from under center" and claims he could teach a QB to take a snap from under center in one practice...so, I tend to take his obnoxious rants with a grain of salt.

The last person that should be criticizing Mangini, is Leach.

this may be a bit off topic but why are some saying that sam bradford could be the number one pick next year when he plays in a spread offense and isn't under center a whole lot? Harrell played in a spread... not trying to start anything but just wondering

Bradford has the better arm, and has shown to be more accurate. The reason that TT QB's get shit on is because of arm strength. Sure the #'s look fantastic, but then you realize that they pass on 90% of their plays. Just like many TT qb's before him, Harrell doesn't have that strong of an arm.
