I read that there were unconfirmed reports from the Jets front office that Favre asked for his release right after he retired (again) in February and then after the draft last weekend. Those sources said that they didn't want the drama of a possible Favre return to overshadow Sanchez's training camp and that it would be better to release him and avoid that risk than keep him and try to trade him for a mid round pick if he chose to come back.

If Favre is really meeting with Childress, then you can look for him to be back on the field this season wearing the purple and white. Even I can not believe this...

So is Jay Cutler. Bus Cook will continue to represent Favre after his playing days and I doubt that Favre will not be able to earn money when he isn't playing.

You earn the right to unretire the first time you cry like a baby at your press conference, MAYBE the 2nd time you cry at your press conference, but not the 3rd and 4th time. Then at that point you're over-leveraging the team. The Packers were left two consecutive offseasons to wonder if he's coming back or if he's not. I don't believe it's right to do that to an organization. Or to a player like AR.

I agreed. The first time he came back, I said so what? But I can only stand so many teary eyed "walk away from the game i love" retirements before enough is enough.

I guess since I just look at the news tidbits like a bullet point or this thread that says "Favre returning to Vikings," and then not pay attention to anything else about it makes me not feel any resentment/anger/annoyance towards Favre hah.

So I can't wait to see how he does with Minnesota, I think it'll be a great fit with A.P. and Harvin.

There wasn't even a press conference this year to announce his retirement, I think a statement was released by the team. Not excusing the drama of prior years but let's keep the record straight on what has happened recently.

No, not yet. 25 INTs later with the Viks, we'll see.

Ive pretty much anticipated this since his release. Pretty numb to it and this point and quite frankly I just don't care. I don't think the Vikings with or without Favre are a lock to win the division. Both Chicago and Green Bay are just as capable.

It pains me to see him doing this but I'm over it at this point. Aaron Rodgers is our future and I am 100% alright with that. I like our team. I am Packers fan, not a Favre fan. Favre can do what he wants.

Oh no doubt. More of my resentment comes from the 1st and 2nd retirements which were both teary eyed affairs living a team and a player in complete limbo until HE decided it was time.

This last one was more or less just annoying and the Jets couldn't wait to sever ties with him, albiet not in a huge press conference or anything. That just shows the magnitute of how sick everyone else is of the whole thing. The Jets pretty much just said "See ya!"

Are there still delusional Packers fans that are crying over what has happened to Favre and want him back? (I remember that stuff pretty heavily at the beginning of last year) Or has the general consesus finally realized that AR is a pretty solid player.

There are still some that will never let it go but the number has grown significantly smaller after Rodgers performance last year. If Favre comes in for the Vikes and tears it up the numbers will go right back up though.

As i said last season, there are Packers fans and there are Favre fans. Two very separate groups. Me, I'm a Packers fan. I still cheered for Favre as a Jet but there is no way in hell I'll cheer for him as a Viking. I'll wish the same fate upon him next season I wish upon all Vikings.

The way I look at it is hopefully this means more INTs for our secondary. BIG year for Woodson, calling it now.

The biggest gripe I have with this is I am a Packers fan in Minneapolis and the retard Vikings fans will be UNBEARABLE.

I'm just going off the experience of the Packers fans I knew. Half were of the "I just want the Packers to do well" and the other half were crying, moaning and bitching about the loss of Favre.

If Favre is going to play, then he needs to get his ass in the gym and be at all OTA's and mini-camps and get his practice reps in...NOT tossing the ball around to a bunch of high school kids for ESPN. That partially torn bicep crap will not cut it, he will have to show up in Minnesota and be committed 110%. If he does that and the bicep muscle is healed, there is no reason to think that he couldn't be the best QB on that roster...of course that is not saying much. I think that drama is why we watch Favre, he could stink the joint up or he could win the Superbowl...you just don't know.

second lowest passing yards since 1993, an interception for every touchdown, and second highest interception total since 99... Favre simply wasnt very good last year, and he entered the offseason with a shoulder that probably required surgery (which, as I understand it, hasnt happened). If he wants to play for the vikings, i'm cool with that. statistically speaking, Aaron Rodgers was a way better quarterback, hell, by yards/game, even Sage Rosenfels was a better quarterback.

Doesnt diminish the ring we got in 96 with him, doesnt ruin those particular memories, and doesnt make me appreciate it any less. Pretty much destroys his opportunity to make any money in wisconsin when he finally is done though.

Vikings fans will shit bricks if this happens. Theres nothing worse than a excited Viking fan cause they never STFU.

O well. Bears get to play him 2x. Thats 2 more times we can punish him : )
