No but he happens to be 6'4", 225 lbs, slow as shit, and can't get any separation from cornerbacks. A lot of the time last year he wasn't even on their active roster come game day. He had a total of 3 catches. They might as well try and get some sort of production out of him somewhere. They have nothing to lose.

Because I tend to think the bigger joke would be the latter in this case.

Yeah I got to watch Ernest, our first round pick, for 4 years in Jacksonville and he was one of the biggest let downs I've got to see. He never got close to an 1000 yard season, and the most TD's he ever caught was 7. So maybe switching him to another position or moving him around the field would maybe create some what of a favorable match up and let him gain some yards. The Dolphins are good at coming up with some good plays and may be able to utilize Ernest as a weapon? I don't know, I'm just trying to be optimistic for you guys.

He was a 4th round pick. Maybe you're thinking of Reggie Williams? He's a huge douche also

I once posted a great pointless list thread on big/lazy WRs who attempted to play TE. It was over at that other site MM. Anyway, my point then was that these types of moves almost never work out. 9 times out of 10 the player is simply too lazy or unathletic to succeed as an NFL player. If they are overweight as wideouts and lazy about their conditioning, what makes you think making their fat asses run LESS is actually going to get these guys going? And forget about blocking.....these dudes are pussies by nature by virtue of their drama queen WR upbringing.

A big WR with questionable speed or work ethic that tries to convert to Tight End is usually damaged goods.

Miami doesn't gain any cap room or save any money if they do cut him so I guess the mentality is to see if he can step up this TC and pre-season and if he doesn't they will cut him.

                          He won't.

So they should just save the trouble down the road and do it... now.

Why do it now when you have nothing to gain from it? Your better off keeping him around and let him compete with the other receivers in TC.
