wow, what a fight.

I definately think more of Clottey than I did before the fight, however he had better stay far away from counter punchers.

Cotto is no doubt a warrior, so was Clottey, both fighters were hurt bad and could have stopped but went on.

End result was what I wanted, however it could have went the other way. like Max Kellerman just said there is no way I can see Cotto gettign 116 points, when I heard that I knew he would get the decision.

I would love to see the two go at it again and hope that both are healthy, I think Clottey dominated early outside of the knockdown, however I question if he could have kept that up with his history of taking rounds off, but the cut really bothered Cotto and I thought it would have been the deciding factor, the hurt knee for Clottey is probably what hurt him in the end.

like I said much new respect for Clottey, because up to this point I had not been impressed with his resume.

Gotta fee for Clottey, he fought a hell of a fight. He deserved better than that 116-111 score, without doubt.

amazing fight , i would have been pissed if the fight got stopped from the cut seeing as the Calderon fight had already been stopped for something similar earlier

Clottey was more accurate, landed the cleaner power punches, controlled the ring more

Cotto had the knockdown, a couple rounds in the middle and maybe the last round, dont see how he won the fight with the scores he did

cotto won the fight no doubt b/c of clottey mistake in the 1st round and also him disappearing in the later rounds maybe thinking he was ahead by a couple of rounds

but the 116-111 still makes me laugh

How could you say 'no doubt'? it was a a split for a reason

Clottey was more accurate, showed better defense, landed the cleaner punches, Cotto threw some nice combos, but Clottey was blocking the majority of them

Clottey got the raw deal but the knock down early was probably a critical part of the loss for him. Cotto came back strong the last couple rounds.. or else I think Clottey would've won. But probably not considering one judge had it scored 116-111.

Dont get me wrong, I think Clottey won the fight.. im just saying thats why he didnt win the fight. Clottey was more active, and was blocking the majority of Cotto's punches.. Clotty did more damage to Cotto, who, as they were saying, couldnt check the right hand cause of the blood in his eye.

I put the money on Cotto by decision so I was cool with it tho..

the way I saw the fight I honestly thought it would end in a Draw, I would say I had Clottey winning on my card 114-113

I'm glad Cotto won the fight. Obviously it was closer than 116-111, it could have been that much of a difference if not for Cotto having to fight one-eyed for 9 rounds.

LAS VEGAS -- Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s comeback has been postponed because the boxer suffered a rib injury while training.

Golden Boy Promotions said on Sunday that Mayweather's July 18 fight against Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will be rescheduled.

"I am extremely disappointed that this fight has to be postponed," Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) said in a statement. "I was training very hard and looking forward to getting back in the ring on July 18."

Marquez (50-4-1, 37 KOs) said in a statement from his training camp in Mexico that he was also disappointed.

"I will remain focused, in shape and ready to fight whenever the fight is rescheduled for," the lightweight champion said.

Details about Mayweather's injury were not immediately available. Phone messages left by The Associated Press with Golden Boy and Mayweather's promoters were not immediately returned on Sunday.

It was not clear how long the pay-per-view fight would be delayed.

Mayweather and Marquez were scheduled to fight at a catch-weight of about 143 pounds, eight more than Marquez has ever fought and the lightest weight for Mayweather since 2005.

Mayweather hasn't boxed since knocking out Ricky Hatton in December 2007. The former five-division champ was slated to fight a rematch with Oscar De La Hoya but instead abruptly retired last June, turning his attention to show business.

Now, many consider Manny Pacquiao boxing's best pound-for-pound fighter after the charismatic Filipino icon beat De La Hoya and Hatton in fewer rounds than Mayweather.

It is possible that Mayweather and Pacquiao will eventually meet in the ring if Mayweather beats Marquez first.

116-111 Cotto how? 115-112 Cotto? really... 116-111 is 8 rounds to 4...... did Cotto really win 8 rounds? i know i was rooting for Clottey but i didnt see Cotto win 8 rounds..... i could be terribly mistaken... but didnt Clottey stalk Cotto after he was cut for the next 2 rounds ( 4 and 5) Cotto dominated 6 ( Clottey was trapped in the corner) then Clottey took back over until like round 11 when Cotto began to move and give Clottey some different angles.... I respect what Cotto did by continuing to fight, he could have easily thought to himself, hey i am up on the cards because of the knockdown, with this cut we go to the scorecards, this fight is a wrap, but he didnt.... he kept fighting...... lost some respect for Clottey he whined about his knee then the low blows and the punch in the back of the head.... fight man... your in a fight... stop cryin.....

with all that said, I think Clottey lost the fight more than Cotto won it... simply because Cotto was badly cut and essentially couldnt see Clottey's right hand, i felt he should have taken more advantage of the cut and set up his right hand better.....

Agreed, mostly. A lot of the later rounds could have been given either way. Maybe Clottey did stalk Cotto for rounds 4 and 5, he should have dominated those rounds though (Cotto still looked more accurate with one eye). You're right about him bitching too when he wasn't really hurt - boxing isn't the sport for that.

I loved the ref's response when Clottey claimed he was hit low "walk it off, come on final round, let's fight"
