If the Gamboa/Mtagwa fight this weekend is anything like the Juanma/Mtagwa fight late last year then we are in for an early FOY canidate. I watched that fight about 6 times and still cant believe Juanman survived. Should be a good double header though.

Sidenote: davie you are cool with me being a Hopkins fan. My fav boxer along with Mosley. I also like the Kahn, Bradley, Gamboa of course Pacman.

Mosley and Bradley I like, Gamboa and Pacman I understand.
Khan - it will be interesting to see whether he continues fighting easy opponents now that he's signed with Golden Boy. Frank Warren has a history of protecting his fighters, but Freddie Roach also expressed that he didn't want Khan fighting his mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana.

I dont think Freddy is willing to throw him to the Wolves just yet. They need to move him along slowly. He is only 23 so a year or 2 of fighting gate keepers and taking baby steps will do him some good. The negotiating period was extended for his Mandatory against Maidana. I wouldnt be so quick to throw him in the in with him. I only seen him in his fight with Ortiz and but was a beast. He has crazy power and will be there all night. I dont think Khan has the power to put him down like Ortiz. He would have to box and perfect fight. I dont want to see a repeat of the Prescott fight.

When is Kirkland set to get out? I hope dude has dome some reflecting while locked down. Would be a damn shame for his talent to go to waste. He and Paul Williams would be a good fight at 54 but Paul is just to damn long and will pose big problems for anyone under 5'10.

I to like the Peterson brothers but Bradley took Lamont to the woodshed. It was entertaining none the less. After the 3rd round it was all down hill for Lamont. I would like to see Anthony fight a Kastidis or even get a fight with Valero. I think Anthony would beat Valero handidly. I watched a handful or fights of Valero and anyone with decent techinical skill, lateral movement and a jab, could beat that dude. That said he is exciting to watch. I do believe both of them will be title holders some day though. I wouldnt mind seeing Khan in with Lamont.

I dont care much for Arreola. He lacks dicipline. How the hell do you some into the fight that heavy after getting your ass whipped that bad by Klitch? Why doesnt Goosen invest in a top notch nutritionist and some damn chef for his ass?

Dirrell was robbed against Froch. He has his hands full against Abraham.

As far as 168 and the tourney Ward is the truth, didnt expect him to put it on Kess like that. I hope they get Bute in the tournament now that Taylor has dropped. That way we can have a unified, ring magazine #1 Super Middle.

Who who you all picking in the Abraham/Direll and the Froch/Kess fights? Both tough ones to pick but Ward has made it hard to pick against him with that clinic he put on.

I'll take Abraham over Dirrell, home decision will help. For Dirrell it was close vs. Froch and I'd agree it could have been given his way, but Germany is more likely to give a home decision than England and he's coming up against an all-around better boxer. I don't know if Dirrell can last with Abraham's power, but I can't see him winning either way.

I think Kessler can come back strongly and beat Froch, it will go to the judges though.

I think Kirkland might get out in the summer on work release, so he could be fighting by the fall.... I think Arthur beats Dirrell even though i like Dirrell and i think Kessler dominates Froch, as i think Froch is not a very good fighter and someone techinal can give him the business... I thought Froch lost to Dirrell even though Dirrell decided to hold the last few rounds.... it was close but i thought he pulled it out.... Dirrell's draw has been shitty to say the least fights in England and in Germany against the home fighters... how the F was he supposed to advance? about Arreola, his discipline is terrible but he is a straight forward fight who likes to mix it up and the second best American heavyweight rightnow.... (I think Chambers is better)

about the Petersons they are both gonna be good fighters.... yeah Bradley gave him the business but i am certain he learned alot... and he can give anyone else at 140 a serious fight... i think Bradley is clearly the best fighter at 140 right now.... about Khan.... they better keep his kid gloves on.... he doesnt want Maidana... dude looks legit.... he was giving Ortiz the business once it became a brawl.... Maidana isnt really a techinal fighter but, the backyard brawl seems to be where he is at his best....

i think the winner of the Allan Green-Sakio Bika fight is gonna get Taylor's spot... Lucien Bute is a HBO fighter, and pretty much the only guy at 168 HBO has.. i doubt they let him go fight in a SHowtime sponsored event...

Good point and a shame. Watch HBO try their darnedest to get the top fighters from the 68 tourney.

i think Mosley is going to be real hard for PBF, but i think he still finds a way to dance/defend and pot shot his way to victory

yeah, i love mosley and want him to win but i don't know if he will has the stamina and speed to keep up with mayweather.

if i had to put money on it, i'd probably put it on mayweather because i know he's just going to throw a couple and then dance around the ring every round.

Super middleweight Allan Green will replace Jermain Taylor in Showtime's Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament, promoter Lou DiBella said.

Green had been preparing for a Feb. 5 fight against Sakio Bika, a former winner of "The Contender" reality show, which was supposed to be a box-off to determine who would replace Taylor, who withdrew from the tournament Jan. 12.

Green had accepted the fight, but it was never finalized after Bika, for undisclosed reasons, elected not to go through with it.

That paved the way for Green (29-1, 20 KOs), 30, to go directly into Group Stage 2 of the modified round-robin tournament that includes five other top super middleweights: titlists Andre Ward and Carl Froch, as well as former titleholder Mikkel Kessler, former middleweight titlist Arthur Abraham and 2004 U.S. Olympic bronze medalist Andre Dirrell.

Green's first fight will be the one Taylor was scheduled for, a title shot against Ward (21-0, 13 KOs) on April 17, probably in Ward's hometown of Oakland, where he upset Kessler in the opening round of the tournament in November.

"It's a great opportunity for him to be in the Super Six," DiBella said. "He was ready and willing and able to do the fight with Bika. It didn't happen, and I think there are actually a lot of people breathing a sigh of relief -- Showtime and Ward's people -- because the turnaround from Feb. 5 to April 17 was very quick considering the nature of how Allan and Bika fight. The chances of them coming out of the fight without a scratch was unlikely, which would have messed up the April schedule."

Taylor, the former undisputed middleweight champion, withdrew after losing for the fourth time in his last five fights, including three by crushing knockout. In the opening round of the Super Six, Abraham knocked him out cold with six seconds left in the 12th round on Oct. 17 in Germany. Taylor was briefly hospitalized with a severe concussion and short-term memory loss.

Since then, there was heavy pressure from his family and handlers to withdraw from the tournament, including from DiBella, who resigned as his promoter over concerns for his health a few weeks before Taylor made his decision.

"It wasn't like it was planned for Allan to take over for Jermain," DiBella said. "Had we not had the tournament available for us, we were in consideration to fight [titleholder] Lucian Bute [in April]. Allan would have had other opportunities. That said, I think Allan is the right guy for the spot.

"An American had dropped out and Allan was the best American 168-pounder that wasn't already in the tournament."

Green's greatest asset is his punching power.

"He has the Mighty Thor tattooed on his arm because he's a big puncher and carries the hammer of Thor," DiBella said. "He's a big puncher and that's his great equalizer. Ward is a tremendously talented boxer but if you get hit flush by Green, you're going to have problems, and I think that will be a real issue for Andre. That will make it an interesting fight."

Win or lose, Green would move on Group Stage 3 and face Kessler later in the year. However, Green, of Tulsa, Okla., enters the tournament at a disadvantage because he takes over Taylor's point total, which is zero.

Fighters earn two points for a win, a third point if they win by knockout, one point for a draw and no points for a loss. The fighters with the top four point totals after three fights will advance to the semifinals.

"He has a disadvantage, but he has that great ability to get the three points in any fight as well as anyone in the tournament outside of Abraham," DiBella said. "He was prepared to fight his way into the tournament by fighting Bika and the cancellation of that fight gave him the opportunity to walk in. Now it's up to him to take advantage of that opportunity."
