I really hope the Penguins hurry up and sign Scuderi before he goes some place else. I never understand though why players who just won the cup don't try and stay on the team they are on. With Gill gone, money is free to give to Scuderi who basically won games for the penguins.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

    "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

Montreal becoming New Jersey north - Gionta and Scott Gomez.

Hank Williams sings: "Are you ready ... for some boring hockey!"

These guys have to watch out for themselves. Team success is nice, but look at Marian Hossa. Turned down $90M over 10 years to take a chance at winning a Cup ... and we saw what happened. That and one hit could end their careers.

The hometown discount is fine, but at the end of the day, the hometown discount could cost these guys when they're 50 and the Stanley Cup champs don't give a fuck about them.

        so a Heatley update.

Based on all the media postings, it seems like

        A) Heatley wanted to be dealt after midnight last night so Ottawa was on the hook for his 4M bonus.

        B) Every facet of the Ottawa franchise and Heatley are now at odds

        C) Heatley wants to go to California (LA or SJ) or NYC

Should be a fun couple days to see that unfold. At least there's still hope he ends up in Teal.

In other news, Rick Nash and the Blue Jackets aren't even close when they got to talking about a long term extension. Nash could be an UFA this time next season and the Leafs will certainly throw the bank at him so Columbus better get this done if they want to keep him.

Havlat did sign 6yr/30M with Minnesota.

Koivu is most likely to sign in Minnesota as well.

Beauchemin and LA are apparently close to finishing off a deal, would be a huge pickup for the Kings. Kovalev was last rumoured to be going to LA as well...

Dallas is the favourite to sign the Swedish Monster goalie Gustavsson, although Burke spent July 1st in Sweden talking to him.

Look at the Habs new coach...definition of boring hockey. You are just lucky he didn't take your available cap room and drop on hoards of D-men while ignoring your empty cupboard of forwards.

Exactly. Every scenario having them leave involves signing everyone one BUT Kane and Toews first. They will lock up Kane and Toews first for long term deals then deal with everyone else.

Pens better sign Beauchemin, since they let both Scuderi and Gill go.
