Frank Mir Already Selling Part III

I’m shaking my head, pointing at my kids and going, ‘That’s not how you want to do it, guys. We’ll be cocky, especially before a fight, to help sell it. I didn’t degrade him [when I beat him at UFC 81] and say he was an idiot. There was no point to kick the guy while he was down. OK, I beat the guy. What, am I going to spit on you, too? If I can just nail that (weight) gap to even 10 pounds, it’ll be a different fight next time. Hopefully next time, I’ll show him how somebody is supposed to act in victory.”
    A couple of points....

-There is money in Lesnar/Mir 3. Not yet, though. The beatdown is too fresh in people's minds.

-As for the bold...people complain about pro wrestling antics from Brock, but as i've been saying for two days now, using fake heat to build a fight has been done in MMA from DAY FUCKING ONE, and it comes directly from pro wrestling. Brock wasnt fake on Saturday. He talked his shit, wouldnt touch gloves, kicked Mir's ass, and talked more shit.

If anyone is phony pro wrestling, its guys like Nick Diaz, Tito Ortiz, and Floyd Mayweather, who make themselves fake heels to build heat, than kiss and make up aftterwards. They take your $50, they play you for marks, they do phony "pro wrestling"...Brock is just being himself-a giant dickwad. But a genuine giant dickwad.

true, but in MMA it has always been knid of an unwritten rule that after its over you show some sort of respect, the sport has built on that sort of thing unlike pro wrestling where you keep the act going

I have no problem with the post fight interview, pretty funny actually, but after you beat the guy you usually let it go, brock just kept it up

I don't want to see Mir/Lesnar III because it'll be the same thing as before.

Now Nog vs. Lesnar should be interesting.

Which one...Lesnar gets caught wilderbeasting or he actually doesn't make a mistake.

Mir/Lesnar III is a must have match. I hate "avenging" a loss that only equals a 1-1 split between the two.

So far, Mir and Lesnar are even. Mir made Brock tape like a bitch and Brock made Mir's face look like a tampon.

Round 3? Well, we'll see what happens.

The problem is, the average joe blow fan doesnt see a sub win as being impressive, common reaction from the first fight would be 'blah, mir got lucky and subbed him', the 2nd fight average fan goes 'Brock destoryed Mir! woo! woo!'

the sub win never gets the respect of the casual fan, I just wish that they wouldnt break it up and than the people could see what happens when you dont let go of a sub...

            Do you mean like this?

Only if the casual fan knew that getting a sub is much harder than actually KOing someone.

One of the best subs i've ever seen by the Piranha.

Maybe they should have Murr break Lesnar's leg the first time like he did to Maine-iac's arm.

                Otherwise, I agree with you.

In real man terms though, making a man tap is about as emasculating as it can possibly get.

I have zero interest in this fight. None. At all.

Carwin/Cain winner should be next in line, because it's a superstar making match if they win. I talked about that in another thread.

If Randy beats Nog, I can see them doing Brock/Randy II, because coming off this past weekend it would be the ultimate face/heel dyanmic and do a monster number.

I just don't see any business upside to Brock/Nog.

I'd love to see Mir get his ass beat again. Mir got a win against an inexperienced Lesnar. Since that fight, Lesnar has improved dramatically.

Here is a little tip, don't talk trash if you cannot handle the heat if you lose. Mir should have shut his trap instead of prematurely calling himself the champion since he beat Lesnar before.

He has improved but to say he's improved dramatically is over exaggerating; his stand up game is still suspect. All he did this time was show sub def - other than that all he did was lay on the guy, wrist control and pound him out - something he did in his first fight with Mir... Up until he got caught.

Couture also exposed him in the stand up & would've had him on his back if it weren't for the elusive cage kung fu grip.

no need for a third match. the second one wasnt even competitve for a second. cro cop/carwin/valasquez/nog would all get a shot before mir. if this last fight was competitive i think a third would definitely happen but i doubt it would happen for a while now

Feel free to remove Cro Cop's name from that list; you'll never see Mirko in the Octagon again.
