Tim was thrown in cause the UFC had just cut him and he was a hot name.. noone legitimately believed Tim had any chance against Fedor and this was not a demand fight. You seem to be the one rewriting history.. noone was hyping a Fedor/Tim fight before that shit actually got announced. And the hype wasnt worth it cause the fight sucked, because Tim sucks.

It definitely wasnt a fight "people wanted to see for years". It was cool to see at the time cause it was Affliction's first show and they were bringing in Fedor to fight. They overpaid Tim huge cause of the name he made in UFC. Definitely wasnt one of those "dream matchups" people were thinking up when UFC and Pride were separate.

Ive been watching MMA since Pride days Rob.. I actually watched a shit ton of original UFC events but I was just a young lad at the time.

It is what it is.. the bias is all good, someone has to do it I guess.

But for all the hating you do on UFC and match making and such.. you cant act like Tim vs Fedor was a fight that was in high demand.

Numerous times Main event participants have suffered injuries. They find replacements.

So again we have Ken injuring himself right before a fight and Kimbo getting KOd by a nobody.
Now you have Barnett fucking everything up for everyone by getting caught roiding.

If affliction goes under thats 2/2 with the same Fn story.

For as much shit as they catch for shady business Pride at least knew wtf they were doing in running a fighting org. These ass clowns like Affliction are clueless.

MMA fans lose out when clueless people get involved in the sport. This is another black eye on mma from an 'outside' organization. Main event cancelled and organization goes under because of roid test. MMA doesnt need that shit.

UFC is the only thing pushing this sport mainstream. Knock Dana like a tool all you want but the guy has done wonders for MMA and is always at least attempting to put on the fights people want to see.
All the other shit people knock him for has nothing to do with us as fans. Its the fighters and there lack of a union. You want fighters not to get hosed , or get more money or not get pushed out or have options etc... then get a Union.


This is bad news for MMA and once again the bad news isnt coming from the UFC.

How can you even compare an org 100+ events in to an org going into their 3rd show? You can't build a brand that quickly. Yeah EXC threw in anyone they could and they're out of business now so that seems like a bad example. On top of that they weren't a PPV event. Anyway, there's a difference between establishing a brand and marketing fights. The UFC certainly has great brand awareness, but they still market the fights almost in the same manner that any other org does. The difference is only because their brand is so strong that they can sell shitty fights as main events and still make big bucks off of it. They weren't in that position early on and Affliction obviously isn't in that position either. I don't see any logic to believe that they should be in any different position this early on.

But, also keep in mind that they had Vitor signed. Fedor did not accept the fight. Rogers demanded too much money and any other replacement would have been bad for business.

Tim was the man staple in the UFC for years and even if people dint think Tim would win, that was a fight MMA fans wnated to see
