Lets hope for a very good card, Shields/Mayhem, or Shields/Jacare, etc...

Someone mentioned on the other boards it was probably moved to CBS because of the Gina rating on Showtime

September 17, 2009 MMA RETURNS TO PRIMETIME ON CBS WITH "STRIKEFORCE: FEDOR VS. ROGERS" LIVE ON SATURDAY, NOV. 7

Fedor, the #1 Ranked MMA Heavyweight in the World, To Be Seen for the First Time by Broadcast Television Audience The CBS Television Network will return to the mixed martial arts (MMA) cage with STRIKEFORCE: FEDOR VS. ROGERS, to be broadcast Saturday, Nov. 7 (9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT). SHOWTIME Sports® will produce the four-fight event with host Gus Johnson calling the action and MMA legend Frank Shamrock and Mauro Ranallo serving as color analysts.

In 2008, CBS aired the first live MMA fights on network television, with three successful events earning time period-winning ratings in all key young adult and young men demographics. CBS's most recent broadcast in October 2008 ranked as the night's highest-rated program on both broadcast and cable in adults 18-34 and men 18-34, topping all other sports programming in those demographics, including the Major League Baseball playoffs and college football.

On Nov. 7, the world's Number One-ranked MMA heavyweight fighter, Fedor Emelianenko of Russia, will face undefeated American Brett Rogers of Minnesota in the marquee match up. The fight marks the first bout for the highly coveted Emelianenko since his promotional company M-1 Global signed an agreement with STRIKEFORCE to co-promote major events.

"There's no question this is a sport that is fast becoming a force in popularity and as a business," said Kelly Kahl, Senior Executive Vice President, Prime Time, CBS Television. "We're excited to be the platform that will enable millions more to see the athlete regarded as the very best in his sport. The Number One heavyweight on the most-watched network has a very nice ring to it."

Simply referred to as "Fedor" by fans around the world, the 6-foot, 235-pound Russian is one of the most dominant fighters in the sport. He is a master of the Russian military combat system Sambo and boasts a record of 30 wins, one loss, no draws with 16 wins by submission, seven knockouts and seven decisions. The 28-year-old Rogers (10-0) is a massive physical specimen standing 6-feet, 5-inches tall and weighing 265 pounds. He possesses two of the heaviest hands in the sport of MMA, an attribute that has helped him knock out all 10 of his professional opponents.

"It is an honor to have the opportunity to bring the STRIKEFORCE brand to CBS," said Scott Coker, Founder and CEO of STRIKEFORCE. "We are looking forward to bringing MMA back to the network and to having the world's No. 1 heavyweight-Fedor-compete for the first time on live network television against one of America's most promising young, undefeated stars-Brett Rogers."

It'll probably take place in a far off land considering I question whether Overeem could pass a test in this country.

Something tells me it doesn't happen soon...just a gut feeling, nothing more.

So with that said, the possible fights could be

              - Fedor vs. Rogers
              - Mousasi vs. Filho/Arona/Sok?
              - Shields vs. Miller for interim MW title
              - Cyborg vs. Toughill?

So that would be 3 title fights plus Fedor fight

They better hype the shit out of this, I cant remember a fight this big on network TV ever with including boxing, maybe back in the day when they used to show fights on ABC

I know Rogers is getting a bunch of hype, but he is a top ten HW, so you have the best HW in the world and a top ten HW on network TV, that is really big

lmao, I love the nationality is being played up in the logo awesome shit

Can't wait, let's hope things end up a lot better than the last network show.

In the rare event that Rogers wins, wouldn't it screw Strikeforce up big time? (M1 may as well go out of business, too)

of course they want Fedor to win, but if Rogers beats Fedor you have a new star, he is not a UFC cast off so he isnt 'tainted', would be undefeated and you would rematch them the next fight

Dana still bitter about not getting Fedor. I love it. :D

I don't know, Dana didnt come off bitter to me in that clip.

Fedor dosen't want to be in UFC. If he did, he would be there, because Dana wants him. People get on Dana's shit, for alot of good reasons, but he made strong efforts to get Fedor. Fedor didnt want to come.

Dana is bitter because he doesnt want comp, than to say there not his competition is just stupid, why counter program with free UFC's? And now he will counter program with live shows in the future more than likely

Dana doesnt want comp because he does not want fighters to have options, he does not want to get into biding wars over guys, he does want to alter his structure and a serious threat can do that, not saying Strikeforce is that threat, but he is lieing saying there are not comp because he is acting like they are, so which is it?

using showtime as an excuse is funny also and saying there 2nd rate is silly, showtime programming is very good, dexter, weeds are highly rated, nurse jackie got great reviews, the Super 6 Boxing tourney will be better than anything HBO will do next year, this isnt when HBO had the Sapronos and Oscar fighting on HBO

Fedor would have fought UFC fighters, he just doesnt want to be in the UFC, there is a difference, he is his own promotion

Also, where are all these best fighters that Fedor will not face? Brock will be fighting Carwin, thats the same as Rogers ranking wise, so that point is absurd, Randy got blasted back to LHW and would not have anything for Fedor, Nog is now a front runner for a title shot, Fedor mauled him twice, if Cro Cop wins than he is in the a good spot, Fedor already beat him at his peak, so who else, Frank Mir? lol

Dont forget, Dana was spewing the same nonsense when Big Tim and AA where running the HW division and Fedor was fighting the best in Pride and we already know how that story ended, it only took 4 minutes to tell it

Whether Fedor is his own man is debatable. Still too shady for my tastes.

But who cares what Dana thinks...if he feels like throwing free stuff on TV, great. If not, oh well, we'll still get some great shows from UFC.

Let's hope Strikeforce hasn't blown their bit and go the way of everyone else after investing w/ M1.
