Um ... of the 24 players who've scored 40 goals since the lockout only 10 have done it more than once. (Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Staal, Hossa, Vanek, Lecavalier, Heatley, Alfredsson, Selanne, Gagne if you're interested)

It's almost a lock that there will be several first time 40 goal scorers every season. How about Mike Cammalleri who came oh so close with Calgary? Marleau has came close several times, and never closer than last season. Kessel would've done it last season if not for injury. And so on.

I think Franzen is in with a good shot, his goal tally has gone up every year and there's no Hossa in Detroit this year either.

My picks as a total shot in the dark would be (bold is a mortal lock) ... Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Gaborik, E Staal, Hossa, Franzen, Kessel, Gagne, and Vanek. And Dubinsky.
