And1 Silva's reign of terror ends at UFC 108

This article was originally on a blog post platform and may be missing photos, graphics or links.

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White told The Times his organization has struck verbal deals for Anderson Silva to defend his middleweight championship against Vitor Belfort on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas.
Vitor doesnt seem to impressed with And1

remember the last time he fought someone from the old chute box gym?

I wonder if this will an impact with Dan wanting to resign? He wanted Silva and doesnt want a Nate fight now Vitor takes Rich's dome off and gets a title shot after 1 fight

who is the best Stiker Silva has ever fought?

Murray, Franklin, Nate, Irvin, Cote? Probably Sakurai, but they're not even in the same weight class now

Not really anything to write home about, will be nice to see And1 challenged on his feet

Don't like the move. I would have liked to see Vitor win at least 1 more fight before getting Anderson Silva. Now if he gets in there and turtles after being hurt a couple times everyone will blame Vitor's confidence and mental game again.

Who really knows where this dude's head at. He should fight at least one more fight to prove that he's ready for this.

LOL @ Hendo thinking beating Michael fucking Bisping is enough to warrant a title shot.

I'm very shocked to see Belfort get a title shot so fast over Marquardt.

better to get Vitor in there after a dominating win instead of a so so performance

Dana trying to ride the hot hand. I like it. I think Vitor's got a damn good chance of winning the fight.

I still think Vitor shouldve gotten at least one more fight in before a title shot. And, while Hendo may not deserve the title shot based on who he's fought since losing to And1, he remains the only fighter to win a round against the Spider in the UFC. That combined with the fact that he hasn't lost since Silva, at least for me, makes him worth of a title shot. Hendo is outmatch on the feet against And1, but he's got thats wildcard right hook and solid ground and clinch game, not to mention a chin from hell. At the very least, he's someone that would make an interesting fight. Vitor may be as fast and more powerful than And1, and he's probably the best striker Silva's faced maybe ever, but he's nowhere near as precise as Accurate Anderson. If he thinks he can win by winging hooks in there, he's gonna whiff. The only way Vitor takes this is if he gets lucky. This isnt discounting Vitor's skills at all, I'm just saying that Silva is on a completely different level than everyone else in the UFC (with the possible exception of Machida) when it comes to striking. The way I see it, the best way to beat Silva is to get him to the ground and wear him down, similar to what GSP did to BJ Penn. The two fighter at the top of the 185 division that I see POSSIBLY making this happen are Hendo and Nate. Vitor's fast, but Silva's combination of technique, speed, and power is off the charts

not that I dont agree, but if Bisping won he would have got the shot, I think Dana said the match was for a title shot at some point, also it was at UFC 100 and had a season of TUF to set it up

I wonder what Machida's thoughts are on this? He helped Vitor train in his last fight
