Missed all the discussion watching the game but I'll go ahead and eat crow. I predicted a couple picks due to over excitement from Favre. I was wrong. Favre was poised and efficient.
If someone would have told me before the game that the Packers would hold Peterson to under 100 I would have guaranteed a win. I definitely did not see that kind of performance coming from the Vikings passing game
My thoughts on the Packers:
I have stood behind TT and MM for a long time now but I am fed up. No, this has nothing to do with the Favre decision, which I do believe they made the right call on. This is about the talent on the team. The OLine has been abysmal since the day TT got here, injuries or not. Its been 4 years now and nothing has changed. Nothing. I can't sit back and support TT anymore with such a glaring weakness that he has failed miserably to fix.
MM, I just can't figure out. Sometimes he calls a genius game and others are just brutal. He has failed to establish any balance. And this year has completely abandoned our bread and butter, the quick slant. I can't take it any more. I think he out coaches himself trying to outsmart the other coach. Either way, its not working. You have a shit line. You have no time. Seems like the quick slant would be your best friend right now. Instead we get 2 a game tops.
Flat out, if we don't make the playoffs this year, I'm after both their heads. 1 playoff trip in 4 years is not gonna cut it. Not in Green Bay.
I already commented on the line, but I'll reiterate, it sucks. 21 sacks I believe now in 4 games. Unacceptable. Now we face even worse play as one of our only good linemen on a depleted, shitty unit goes down.
Ryan Grant, seriously dude, RUN. I know the line sucks and there are few holes but Christ I've never seen someone so hesitant and fail to hit the few holes he has. And for god sake, break one fucking tackle. Just one, please.
Rodgers needs to get rid of the ball faster. I can't always see the coverage so I don't know if they were coverage sacks, but a fair amount of the sacks tonight are on Rodgers. You can't hold the ball and scramble around for 12 seconds. If nothing is there, throw it away. Stop holding it so long and taking sacks.
Driver needs to catch the ball. He dropped an easy one early, on a quick slant no less. He's had numerous drops this year. Played well when it was too late. Need that the whole game.
Paging Greg Jennings...
As for the D, Harris didn't have a good game. It's hard to be too terribly pissed when you hold AD to under 100. I blame a lot on Capers actually. The complete failure to generate pressure really hurt. There was a large lack of blitzing. What the heck happened to our blitzburgh type of defense we were supposed to have? Why are we only rushing 3 majority of pass plays. If you give a QB 8 seconds to throw, he's gonna find someone. That goes for any QB, inexperienced and experienced. Someone like Favre is gonna shred that.
Anyway, I'm in for another week of ridicule from bandwagon Vikings fans that have barely watched a down of football. I'm REALLY looking forward to that. Can't wait to be told how Brett Favor (yes, some don't even know how to pronounce his name, but they are life long Viking fans ) will win them a SB.
Kudos to the Vikings on their win. They kicked our ass, no excuses. Not much more I can say after that.Last edited by Spidey; 10-05-2009, 11:33 PM.Comment

Driver's drop was the on that popped up in the air and eventually Jennings caught diving to the ground. Rodgers drilled it right in Driver's numbers. It worked out for us but bothered me cause its becoming a trend.
Lee's drop was obviously the worst drop of the year thus far. Not a great ball, but catch-able. You can't drop that.
While Thompson has done a nice job bringing in talent and rejuvenating this team, he has failed at almost epic levels to build an offensive line. What makes it worse is he tore apart a good offensive line right when he got here. Not saying I disagree with letting Rivera and Wahle go, but when you let guys like that go and guys like Tauscher go, you best have a plan to replace them. I don't call sticking in 2 rookies (Colledge and Spitz at the time) and some scrub (Barbre) a very good plan.
The fact is you can trace majority of our offensive issues to our poor offensive line. No time for Rodgers, no holes for Grant, we have to keep extra blockers in to help. Its a disaster and one that falls mainly on Thompson but also on McCarthy and his staff for poor line coaching.
I'll stick with what I said, no playoffs and I want both gone. This is 4 years now.Comment

Someone already mentioned it but it's so true that if Rodgers was given at least a half decent offensive line he would be one of the best QBs in the league at the moment.Comment

This year it is Clifton-Colledge-Spitz-Sitton-Barbre. The right side of the line had no starting experience and really outside of Barbre getting special teams time, no game experience at all previous to this year.
Last night, due to Clifton's injury, the line was Colledge-Spitz-Wells-Sitton-Barbre until Colledge went down. Then it was Lang-Spitz-Wells-Sitton-Barbre. Lang is a rookie.Last edited by Spidey; 10-06-2009, 08:49 PM.Comment
