Masato was going to face the K-1 World Max Tournament champion in his last fight on NYE. But it was suspected and today it is official, Giorgio Petrosyan's right hand is broken and he will not be able to take the fight.

Masato will fight another opponent. BTW, if you were planning to sit in the special VIP Masato cheering section, it is already sold out. At JPY100,000 a ticket, thats a healthy income for FEG. Unless of course they gave them out free, it is not unusual to give out these free to people at his gym etc.

That means that the first fights made public for this year's Dynamite! event are the K-1 Koshien semi-finals.

    Announced:
    Masato vs. TBA

    K-1 Koshien (Highschool) Tournament Finals:
Final: Winner of SF 1 vs. Winner of SF 2
    SF 2:Hiroya vs. Masaaki Noiri
SF 1: Katsuki Ishida vs. Shota Shimada

      Various rumors about Dynamite.

Mousasi might end up on the card.

      So is Sakuraba:
      Gryphon’s twitter:

Annonimous post “SAKU vs MISAKI in NYeve(Dynamite!)”.news source is”anonimous fighter said”..It is nothing but rumor, rumor, and rumor but …

this is from kamipro—-SAKU’s NY eve opponent is list uped two japanese.”A” is it looks not serious for usualfan, but for mania, very serious
Kazuo Misaki announced that he has left Grabaka two days ago so if WVR has some kind of contract with the whole gym and not Misaki himself, he could be out of the contract. Though that is just speculation for now. Misaki did say though that he will “start from zero”, is that in regards to his training or something else?
      And Arlovski:
Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski is looking to fight by the end of the year and could be competing at Strikeforce: Evolution on Dec. 19 or in Japan with Sengoku or Dynamite!! 2009 on New Year's Eve.

      And Sandro:

There is also talk of Sengoku, DREAM and K-1 collaborating and putting together a single NYE show, which would be YOOGE.

It’s no secret anymore that there is talk between FEG (K-1, K-1 MAX, DREAM), RE (old PRIDE staff part of DREAM), and WVR (SRC) to hold their NYE events together. WVR haven’t been able to secure a TV deal for NYE despite having the biggest or second biggest fight of the night, so holding a big NYE event together is currently in the works (maybe already completed).

Tokyo Sports, a hit or miss newspaper, reports about it today (picture above). They’re writing that the event including all three organizations will take place at the Saitama Super Arena. So the fights WVR had planned for Ariake Colosseum will take place in Saitama Super Arena instead and TBS will most likely broadcast them together with the FEG/RE (Dynamite!!) fights. There will probably be some mixed fights if it happens as well, Sanae Kikuta called out Kiyoshi Tamura not too long ago.

Apparently, the president of Don Quijote, WVR’s main sponsor, and FEG president Tanigawa have since October had numerous ultra secret meetings. They might have come to an agreement on November 6th.

Both Tanigawa and WVR PR Kokuho have denied this, though I wouldn’t take their word for it. It’s not like they would confirm it before a big press conference, which you shouldn’t be surprised to see happen sometime next week.
It was announced today that the final opponent of Masato will be Andy Souwer, who Masato has never beaten. The fight will be a 5 round fight with a possible 1 round extension in the case of a draw.

About the joint event on NYE, DREAM EP Sasahara commented: “At the present time we haven’t been able to have any talks.”

Think I'd be more hyped for Petrosyan than Souwer, but injuries happen.

              http://www.headkicklegend.com/2009/1...ficial-sengoku
We all knew it was coming, Sengoku was set up to fail and had no choice to but hit eject. K-1's Tanigawa went in front of the press today and announced that on New Year's Eve K-1 will promote a giant, 19-bout card featuring stars like Shinya Aoki, Kazushi Sakuraba, Kiyoshi Tamura and so forth. We already know that the main event of this card is slated to be a 5-round war between Andy Souwer and the retiring Masato, and the assumption is now the supporting fight will be the debut of Japanese Olympic Gold Medalist Judoka Satoshi Ishii against 1992 Gold Medalist Judoka Hidehiko Yoshida.

Zach Arnold points out that this isn't the first time that FEG's Ishii has worked with outside promotions and basically killed their credibility, salvaging the remains.

We know Kazuyoshi Ishii loves interpromotional feuds and likes to push rivalries amongst factions. It’s his playbook, practically speaking. With Sengoku, he has a powerless ‘ally’ he can control and essentially tinker with as far as matchmaking goes. Sengoku is losing money promoting their own shows and as long as it’s not K-1 money, they could care less because ultimately Ishii controls the pipeline for Japanese TV in the fight business over there and you only get on if you work with him.

We’ve had various factions feud or co-promote with K-1 over the years (PRIDE, Yarennoka, now Sengoku) and in the end K-1 managed to control the outcome they wanted. The big question is whether or not Kazuyoshi Ishii gives Satoshi Ishii a big push. It’s a touchy situation if K-1 can’t have its tentacles into Ishii contractually-speaking in the long-run. On the flip side, K-1 has to be pretty confident that even if they do push Ishii on their TV platform that Sengoku will continue to lose money on their shows, so why should they care? Eventually K-1 will grab any of the Sengoku fighters they want.
While this might sound hasty, this is the end for Sengoku. I think Arnold is on the money here, K-1 will try to work "DREAM vs. Sengoku" just like they've been working K-1 vs. DREAM and at least this time around it won't seem completely internalized, using the same talent they have under contract. In the end after possibly running some sort of GP or champion vs. champion bouts, Sengoku will be put out to pasture and anybody looking to stay in the fight game will give in to FEG, just like everybody in the past has had to.

The table of contents for the January editions of Japanese MMA magazines Gong Kakutougi and Kakutougi Tsushin basically confirm a DREAM X SRC NYE joint event.

On Tsushin it says: “DREAM Vs. SENGOKU(SRC), outbreak of war!”

The chief editor writes/says that on NYE, an all-star dream card will be implemented.

On Gong it says: “DREAM X SENGOKU @ NYE, toward the alliance of the century.”

SRC Lightweight champion Hirota says: “If SRC and Dynamite!! hold an event together, I want to overcome and KO Eddie Alvarez.”

There’s nothing though about what will happen after the joint NYE event.

These table of contents aren’t even officially out yet so thanks to the site below for finding and posting them.

Tatsuya Kawajiri Vs Shinya Aoki At FieLDS Dynamite

                  by Andrew Gladstone - 11-22-2009

Sources close to FEG have informed MMA Recap that Tatsuya Kawajiri (25-5-2) will be taking on DREAM lightweight champion Shinya Aoki (22-4) at Dynamite on New Years Eve.

At this time however, it is unclear as to whether or not Aoki will be defending his lightweight title.

Shinya Aoki is coming off an impressive victory over Joachim Hansen by armbar in round 2 at Dream 11. Aoki has been one of the best lightweight for sometime, and if he is successful over Kawajiri he will undoubtedly hold more wins over top ranked light weights than any lightweight fighter. There is no secret that Aoki will undoubtedly look to bring this fight to the mat and work his submission game to beat Kawajiri.

In Kawajiri’s last fight he won via technical knock out over Melchor Manibusan. Kawajiri has recently gone 1-1 in the K-1 kickboxing promotion, but he has shown signs of improvement, despite the loss to the great Masato. If Kawajiri is to be successful he will need to keep this fight on the feet and stuff Aoki’s takedowns.

Stay tuned to MMA Recap as more info on this fight develops.
                  great fight, about time

The press conference has started. The trailer is currently being played.

                      Sasahara and Tanigawa present.

Tanigawa announced that they will hold the event together with SENGOKU on NYE.

Announcement of Ishii vs. Yoshida and DREAM vs. SENGOKU fights as well. The full card is currently being worked on.

Japan Martial Arts Federation president Fukuda has entered.

The World Victory Road general manager as well.

The DREAM army is entering the stage.

Kazushi Sakuraba, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Katsuyori Shibata, Hideo Tokoro, Hiroyuki Takaya, and Shinya Aoki from DREAM and Kazushisa Watanabe from K-1.

The SENGOKU army entering the stage.

Hidehiko Yoshida, Kazuo Misaki, Hiroshi Izumi, Sanae Kikuta, Akihiro Gono, Kazunori Yokota, Mizuto Hirota, Masanori Kanehara, Eiji Mitsuoka, and Yoshihiro “KISS” Nakao.

Both Watanabe and Tokoro said that they want to fight KID.

Sakuraba with a mask on: “Hi, I’m Hikari Shinji (a character from Evangelion). Please put me against KID who’s in the same weight class as me.”

Nakao asks Tanigawa for Mirko. Gono hinted at Sakurai.

Hirota wants to fight Alvarez. “Don’t you want to see Alvarez get KO’d?”

Yoshida apologized to everyone who was preparing for the Ariake event and asked all fighters present to fight their hearts out on NYE.

Video message from Ishii: “Please be gentle on NYE, Yoshida.”

Sasahara said that rules, the fights, the weight of the fights, etc. are currently being discussed. The only thing certain is that KID won’t fight Sakuraba.

WVR GM said that SENGOKU is planned continue from next year as well. Though I wouldn’t believe what most people say about this right now.

Kazushi Sakuraba held a commemoration press conference today for the publication of his new book called “Creative powers”.

At the press conference he also talked about Dynamite!!, starting off with his now usual “I don’t want to fight”-talk. He is currently negotiating with the promoters but he says that he doesn’t want to fight, it’s cold so he can’t warm up, he wants to take NYE off because he recently had two fights in one month, etc.

He doesn’t have the image of the DREAM vs. SRC fights as war but as a cultural meeting of some sort. About an opponent he says that anyone is fine, though he wants to increase his weight and fight Fujita.

He had the chance to train with him in the past. After experiencing his power in training he wants to experience “that power” in a fight as well. If Fujita hits him in the fight, he wants to tell him: “I’m your senior by one year, yet you hit me?”.

A Sakuraba vs. Fujita fight would be bigger than Sakuraba vs. Misaki I think, with their professional and amateur wrestling backgrounds. The Sakuraba-Misaki-Akiyama link is also something though.
A SRC commission meeting was held at the WVR headquarters on the 11th where it was decided to lift Kazuo Misaki’s indefinite suspension due to good behavior, etc. since the incident.

Because of this he has also been added as one of the candidate participants for Dynamite!! 2009 on the SRC website.

Hayato “Mach” Sakurai wrote on his blog that it looks like Misaki will participate at Dynamite!! as well (in addition to himself).
And Mousasi's opponent has been announced. It's Yosuke Nishijima. Meh. Nishijima is a former pro boxer, but hasn't done well in MMA (0-5) or kickboxing (0-1). I wish it was Manhoef.
