Meltzer Reports: Brock Lesnar Seriously Ill, UFC 108 Main Off, Shane

    Meltzer reports that...

-Brock Lesnar is seriously ill, more serious than previously thought. He does not have Cancer or HIV/AIDs. While resting in Canada (he has mono), he collapsed and was taken to a hospital. It is said he may not fight for a long time, if ever again. Dana White went to Minnesota and will try to get Lesnar into the Mayo Clinic.

-The UFC 108 main between Big Nog and Velasquez is off as Big Nog has a staph infection (dude can't catch a break). Shane Carwin had knee surgery done recently and will not be available.

-Shane McMahon had a meeting at UFC Headquarters recently and Dana White would not comment as to what about.

"The big news from the UFC Press Conference had nothing to do with tonight’s fights. To a stunned press pack, Dana White announced that Brock Lesnar is not only struggling to recover from mono but that after a recent trip to Canada he has developed further health problems and is currently back in hospital. He refused to give more details about the nature of these health problems except that they were serious. In response to a direct question about what this meant for the future of the heavyweight championship Dana White raised the possibility of an interim championship or even stripping Lesnar of the title. He said that he will be meeting with Lesnar and his people next week to decide what the future holds for the UFC Heavyweight Champion and the championship he currently holds."

Wow. Just a reminder that no matter how big and strong a fighter is, they are still human and can still be taken down by bugs and such.

Apparently it got much worse over the weekend:

The health of UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has taken a turn for the worse. Lesnar collapsed last week while in Canada and was rushed to the hospital, according to UFC president Dana White at the UFC 105 post-fight press conference.

Lesnar's UFC 106 fight against Shane Carwin was postponed to UFC 108 on October 27th after it was announced Lesnar had contracted mononucleosis. UFC President Dana White told reporters at the press conference that the Lesnar/Carwin fight will be delayed again because Lesnar's health has not improved and the diagnosis is worse than originally reported.

"He's in a hospital up in North Dakota somewhere right now," said White. "He went to Canada and some bad stuff happened to him, so we've got to figure it out.

"He doesn't want to talk about it publicly, but he's in bad shape. He's not well and he's not going to be getting well anytime soon."

White said he promised Lesnar he would not reveal what he's suffering from, but said that Lesnar doesn't have cancer or AIDS.

And Dana would be blowing Brock's issues out of proportion because why?

AIDs was my guess, when I heard about him being ill.

Of course, I was just fucking around, but to see it mentioned, is a bit odd.

Even if it were true, they'd be avoiding it for as long as possible.

From the get go, they said it was neither cancer or AIDS.

According to Dana, Lesnar has an intestinal issue that will require major surgery, in addition to the mono and a few other issues (according to Meltzer).

Maybe Shane wanted to inform him on Lesnar's drug habit...

                        Or did he ''kick'' that?

                        I'm sticking by AIDs.

If he does have AIDS or cancer, he wouldn't just fall ill all of a sudden, and the UFC would have to make some sort of formal announcement because Brock would be forced to retire immediately. So I don't see why they'd be holding off on making that announcement because it'd be inevitable.

I'm sticking to some sort of roid issue. Maybe it's a toomah.

UFC champ Lesnar has bacterial infection

By James Macpherson, Associated Press Writer
BISMARCK, N.D. — UFC President Dana White said Monday that heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is recovering from a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract.
"He's in stable condition and should be released soon," UFC President Dana White said.

Asked if Lesnar was in a Bismarck hospital, White said, "I think he is," but did not want to say which hospital because he wanted to protect Lesnar's privacy.

White said he is encouraging Lesnar to check into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for further treatment. He also said he did not know if the 32-year-old South Dakota native will fight again.

"It depends on how serious this is," White said.

Bismarck's St. Alexius hospital said Lesnar was not a patient there. The other hospital in the city, Medcenter One, would not confirm or deny he was there.
Lesnar, who grew up on a dairy farm in Webster, S.D., is a former wrestler at Bismarck State College. He lives in Alexandria, Minn.

Lesnar was an NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion, and later wrestled professionally with World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. He failed at a bid to play for the Minnesota Vikings.

Lesnar announced last month he was withdrawing from his Nov. 21 UFC title defense match because of an unspecified illness.

White said Monday that Lesnar wanted to thank his fans for support. But he said it's tough to tell how 6-foot-3, 265-pound Lesnar is feeling.

"He's never in good spirits and he's not in good spirits now," White said.
