    VSN Trade Center 2010

Figured I might as well get this up so I don't keep cluttering up the random hockey thoughts thread. I'll keep this top post updated while trades come in just so when the storm of trade deadline day happends its easier to see everything in here.

From March 1st to the 3rd (NHL Trade Deadline)

    Before Trade Freeze:

The Minnesota Wild have traded D Kim Johnsson and 2009 first round pick Nick Leddy to Chicago for D Cam Barker.

Chicago clears up arond $3 mil in Barker but take on 4.8mil in Johnsson. Johnssons a UFA at the end of the year though.

Pretty good trade for Chicago helps their cap woes for next year.

Sharks trade forward Shelley to Rangers for sixth round pick

Shelley to Rangers for a 6th, 5th if we re-sign him.

And that's the trading block frozen over the Olympics now I think.

Barker had been one of the guys who was discussed in almost every trade talk the Hawks were in. Kinda sad to see him go because I liked him, but if it clears up space for next year im all for it.

I'm sad, but not surprised at all, that the Sharks traded Shelley.

Staubitz and McLaren have both proven that they aren't afraid to drop the gloves, and both have more skill than Shelley. Shelley is utterly useless in the playoffs, so this was a smart move.

But Shelley came to play night in and night out and was definitely one of the guys that everyone, especially the younger guys, really looked up to and admired. He was never dirty and always stuck up for his teammates. He will be missed in San Jose.

Least he went out with a win:

                      The rumor I heard was

                      Cristobal Huet
                      Corey Crawford
                      Kris Versteeg

                      to the Panthers, for:

                      Tomas Vokoun
An unnamed defenseman (most likely one of two impending UFAs: Dennis Seidenberg or Jordan Leopold).

Halak was someone else that me and KG looked at when talking about this, but KG pointed out that there was no way Montreal could take on Huets contract with them being so close to the cap and them not giving up that much cap wise.

Plus the simple thing of them trading Huet away in the first place like 3 years ago, so why take him back now.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

                        "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

Huet isn't involved in the montreal trade. He's involved in another trade to some other team.

Similar to the same situation Dallas is in right now.

I guess we wait and see though. Everyone is talking about the olympics but one more week and the flood gates will open.

Oh realllly? I would have to assume that if Chicago got Halak, that they wouldnt need Vokoun because I dont see them sending Niemi down to Rockford.
